Patent number: 5344249Abstract: A link for facilitating the joining of two rods while compensating for manufacturing irregularities in rod length and other manufacturing and assembly tolerances to produce a rigid assembly of proper length including a clip base for receiving an end of each rod and a sleeve to lock the assembly. The clip has an opening on one end for receiving a first rod and a threaded opening and longitudinal recess at the opposite end for receiving a threaded end of the second rod. The second rod may be pushed transversely to its axis into the recess and opening at any point along the opening to rigidly link the two rods together while compensating for manufacturing and assembly tolerance variations. The sleeve is telescopingly locked over the recess to secure the second rod in the clip.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 1992Date of Patent: September 6, 1994Assignee: Master Industries, Inc.Inventor: Arthur P. Seifert

Patent number: 5094578Abstract: A self-locking retainer, actuated by pushing a piece to be retained into the retainer, includes opposed molded parts hinged together, one pair of parts, on opposite sides of a hinged portion, movable together to form a base and a retention plug with integral locking dogs, and a second pair of parts mounted on the base of the first pair formed as hinged jaws with opposed recesses to clamp a piece to be retained. Detent means on the jaws and the base of the first pair of parts interlock to hold the jaws together when pushed together by a part to be retained.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1991Date of Patent: March 10, 1992Assignee: Master Industries, Inc.Inventors: William C. Patent number: 4993755Abstract: A quick connect fitting in which tubing can be inserted into a pre-assembled fitting where it will become sealed and locked against pull-out. A main fitting body has an open-ended recess in which is located a movable piston to seal against the body and an inserted tube. The piston wedges over a conical extension on a sealing gland retained by a screw-on cap. The sealing gland has rearward, circumferentially spaced fingers radially movable. An axially shiftable ring, in one position, allows the fingers to expand to receive the tube, and, when shifted to a second position, moves the finger to engage the extension surface of the tube to lock against withdrawal.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 1989Date of Patent: February 19, 1991Assignee: Master Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Johnston

Patent number: 4664427Abstract: A quick connect fitting for tubing which can be inserted into a pre-assembled fitting where it will become sealed and locked against pull-out. A main fitting body has an open-ended recess in which is located a movable piston to seal against the body and an inserted tube. The piston wedges over a conical extension on a sealing gland retained by a snap-on cap, the gland and the cap having complemental spherical surfaces to allow swivel movement of the tube without disturbing the seal in the tube. A locking ring retainer grabs the tube annularly and bears against the piston to resist pull-out.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1985Date of Patent: May 12, 1987Assignee: Master Industries, Inc.Inventor: Robert L. Patent number: 4381863Abstract: To augment the spin and lift imparted to a bowling ball as it leaves the hand of the bowler, there are mounted in the finger holes inserts having inwardly protuberant ridges at the rims thereof. The tips of the fingers are hooked around these ridges when the ball is gripped, and continue to be at least partially hooked therearound during release of the ball, so that there is sufficient force imparted to the ball during release to create improved spin and lift. There is provided on the inner ends of the inserts walls having central holes therethrough, for purposes of aiding insertion of the inserts, relieving air pressure, and permitting inspection at any time.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 1981Date of Patent: May 3, 1983Assignee: Master Industries, Inc.Inventor: Bill Norman
