Patent number: 11566930Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for identifying an incorrectly sized utility meter having a measuring system for fluid passing through the utility meter, including monitoring a plurality of utility meters, each utility meter being installed at a utility location, receiving utility meter data, transmitted by at least one utility meter of the plurality of utility meters to a central computer including at least one processor, wherein the utility meter data comprises a measurement of a volumetric amount of fluid passing through the utility meter or other utility meter data for deriving the volumetric amount of fluid passing through the utility meter, identifying the incorrectly sized utility meter by detecting whether a flow rate associated with the volumetric amount of fluid passed through the utility meter is outside of a flow rate range; and providing an interactive interface to report/receive a status associated with the incorrectly sized utility meter.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2020Date of Patent: January 31, 2023Assignee: Master Meter, Inc.Inventors: Scott H. Seehoffer, Jerry Potter

Patent number: 10704946Abstract: A meter register of the type having a sealed register body, and a member adapted to measure liquid flow through the meter and an antenna mounted within the register body is improved by providing a microprocessor adapted to have a calculated water meter maximum flow rate and a minimum flow rate defined as the meter flow rate range. The member co-acts with the microprocessor to determine flow rate, and the microprocessor is adapted to forward a signal to the antenna when the flow rate of the meter is outside, or within, the meter flow rate range, and the antenna transmits the signal to the water utility that the meter is not properly sized, or is properly sized, respectively.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 2016Date of Patent: July 7, 2020Assignee: Master Meter, Inc.Inventors: Scott H. Seehoffer, Jerry Potter

Patent number: 7493811Abstract: A positive displacement water meter includes a measuring chamber having an outlet port defined therein, wherein the outlet port includes a channel defined around the outlet port. A seal includes a planar surface and a curved surface, wherein the planar surface is substantially parallel to the curved surface, and the planar surface is situated within the channel. A meter casing includes an outlet port defined therein, wherein the meter casing receives the measuring chamber therein such that the outlet port of the measuring chamber is substantially aligned with the outlet port of the meter casing. The curved surface of the seal abuts a periphery of the outlet port of the meter casing forming a seal therewith. Due to the substantially arcuate cross section, the seal is adapted to resist the dislodging thereof from the channel during assembly of the positive displacement water meter.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 2006Date of Patent: February 24, 2009Assignee: Master Meter, Inc.Inventors: Ronald N. Koch, James L. Rogers
