  • Patent number: 6647761
Abstract: A hand held refrigeration fluid leak detector for observing and detecting optical fluorescence resulting from optical excitation of the leaking refrigeration fluid provides single hand operation for a user while holding the main body of the detector with either one of two hands. The flexible stalk is coupled to the main body and to a head containing an LED light source which provides spectral emissions in the UV to blue range. In one embodiment, the hand held detector includes a gas detector.

  • Patent number: 6619099
Abstract: The movement of an expander by actuation of a manual hydraulic pump in a hydraulically powered flaring hand tool contacts die elements so as to move the die elements radially outward to flare hollow malleable cylindrical tubing. The tool has a manual hydraulic pump for producing movement of a shaft, an adjuster member coupled to the manual hydraulic pump, permitting the shaft to slide through the adjuster member, an expander coupled to the shaft end, and a die set having a plurality of die elements, the die set is coupled to the adjuster member.

  • Patent number: 6324884
Abstract: A hand-held portable crimping tool for crimping fittings to hose assemblies, is manually operable, has removable snap-in dies, and yoke that is hydraulically powered. Operation of the tool causes the snap-in dies to crimp the fitting, wherein a linear force is transformed into a non-linear force applied by the snap-in dies to the fitting.

  • Patent number: 6253436
Abstract: A tool for a pressurized refrigeration system having a valve with a removable valve core comprises: a valve assembly having a first opening and a second opening and a shut-off valve, the shut-off valve adapted to close and open a passageway between the first opening and the second opening; a valve adapter coupled to the first opening, wherein the valve adapter is adapted to couple to the valve; and, a shaft assembly coupled to the second opening, the shaft assembly having a shaft adapted to move through the passageway, when the shut-off valve is open, and engage the removable valve core. The removable valve core can be removed, while under pressure, from the valve, by rotating the shaft to extract the removable valve core in a controlled manner.

  • Patent number: 5782128
Abstract: A manually operable hand tool apparatus for providing a radially outward flare, known as push connect flare, away from the distal end of a deformable tube. The hand tool comprises a gripper-die means for securing the tube, a yoke portion having internal threads and a manual hydraulic pump portion. The yoke moves axially on a threaded positioning screw that is rigidly connected to the manual hydraulic pump portion. A vise means comprising a screw and a tightening rod is attached to the yoke. The vise is used to secure the gripper-die means to the yoke. The pump portion comprises a cylindrical body, a flaring piston, a threaded positioning screw, a pumping linkage system and a relief valve. An adapter-die is secured by a guide nut which is connected to the flaring piston. Alternative adapter-die and guide nut designs are also used to connect the die to the flaring piston.

  • Patent number: 5370359
Abstract: A coupler for connecting the service port of a refrigeration fluid-containing system to an exit conduit has a stem threadably for axial movement within the coupling body between a first open position when fully advanced and a second closed position when fully retracted. A plunger axially extends from sealing means in the stem into a service port collar and unseats spring biased sealing means, permitting passage of refrigeration fluid, when the stem is in a substantially fully advanced position and the service port of a refrigeration fluid-containing system is positioned in a service port collar. When the stem is threadably retracted from a substantially fully advanced position, the plunger assumes a retracted position insufficient to unseat the spring biased sealing means and thereby prevents passage of refrigeration fluid.
