Patent number: 5189977Abstract: To close off the cockpit of a small boat from a forward compartment of the boat, a lift-up panel hinged to the floor of the boat is provided to fit in the space between port and starboard consoles which separate the cockpit from the forward compartment. The panel fits against the floor of the boat when not in use and can readily be raised and lowered. Engagement of the panel with a central section of a windshield is provided to hold the panel in the raised position.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1992Date of Patent: March 2, 1993Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 5105755Abstract: A boat including a deck equipped with peripherally upwardly projecting components surrounding a passenger area is provided including passageways from the passenger area between adjacent components leading to the deck periphery. Openable and closable gates are provided to control passenger movement through the passageways and the boat includes a marine propulsion system including an electrical control circuit therefore equipped with normally opened control switches operatively associated with the gates in a manner closing the switches when the gates are closed, to thereby enable operation of the marine propulsion system only when all gates are closed.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 4892054Abstract: A transom for a boat is made of a metal grid structure filled with a hardened slurry of glass microspheres mixed with a polyester resin, the grid being covered on opposite sides by layers of fiberglass. The transom avoids the problem of rotting which is prevalent in wooden transoms when they are drilled with bolt holes for receiving outboard motors or other similar equipment.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1988Date of Patent: January 9, 1990Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 4385580Abstract: A marine door unit consists of a rigid frame adapted to be attached to a deck and a door hingably connected to the frame. The frame is a rigid metallic unit formed of channel members, at least one of which carries a drain tube to prevent water accumulation therein. The frame means includes an inner upstanding support rail which carries a continuous sealing gasket. When the door is closed, the inner surface thereof abuts against the support rail, compressing the sealing gasket and rendering the door unit substantially leak-proof. In the event of any water leakage past the edges of the door, such leakage collects in the channel and discharges through the drain tube. The door unit is particularly useful on boats of the type having a fishing platform with a storage compartment beneath the platform. On such boats, the door unit is mounted in an opening in the platform and serves to keep the compartment dry while remaining substantially flush with the platform surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1981Date of Patent: May 31, 1983Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L. Patent number: 4221014Abstract: A storage rack is mounted on boats of the type having seats supported by pedestals in order to store the pedestal posts. The storage rack is adapted to be mounted angularly for holding a pair of pedestal posts and consists of a pair of elongated cylindrical tubes, mounted side-by-side, and having a forward mounting plate and a rear support plate. The forward mounting plate is mounted angularly with respect to the cylindrical members so that when the mounting plate is attached to a mounting surface, the cylindrical members are disposed angularly. The support plate extends perpendicularly with respect to the tubular members and is provided with an opening or hole in alignment with each tubular member to prevent water accumulation and to accomodate the reduced diameter portion of the pedestal posts.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 1979Date of Patent: September 9, 1980Assignee: Mastercrafters CorporationInventor: Samuel L.
