  • Patent number: 5249788
Abstract: The device for feeding sheet stacks 26 has a guiding device 5, in which a plurality of endless guide belts 18, 19, which guide the sheet stack 26 to a motor-driven sheet feed device 8 arranged on a removal side of the sheet stack. The endless guide belts 18 are arranged in an essentially horizontal stack support surface 4. The essentially vertical, stack-side feed sections of the feed conveyer belts 35 of the sheet feed device 8 are subdivided by articulated rollers 38 of a horizontal articulated shaft 39 arranged in the upper third of the sheet stack 26 into a lower decollation section 33, which is sloped by more than 5.degree. and less than 30.degree. relative to the vertical line, and an upper, more highly sloped feed section 34. To achieve reliable decollation of sheets even in the case of sheets of paper carrying high electrostatic charge, an intermittent drive 75 is provided, which drives the sheet 26' lying on the decollation sections 33 of the feed conveyer belts 35 with pulse-like acceleration steps.

  • Patent number: 5246415
Abstract: A buckle folding machine with one or several folding roller pairs (W1/W2, W2/W3, W3/W4, W4/W5) and one or several folding pockets (T1, T2), which are associated with the individual folding station (F1 through F4) and which each have a paper stop (10, 11/1, 12, 13), which can be set to different feed lengths. To also collect and jointly fold a plurality of sheets of paper (1), at least one folding pocket (T2) is designed for simultaneously receiving a plurality of sheets of paper (1) such that the individual sheets of paper (1) are able to run in automatically up to the paper stop (11/1) over their full length and remain there. A pushing device is provided (3) which performs impulse-like stroke movements by means of a special drive (31) controlled by a presettable sheet counting device (18) or code-reading device (24). These stroke movements cause the sheets of paper collected in this folding pocket (T 2) to be delivered together into the next folding station (F2).

  • Patent number: 4787619
Abstract: In a sheet feed bench with two parallel sheet feed rails that are adjustable relative to one another and with each having blowing jets on their surfaces facing one another directly above the level of the bench, connected to a common source of compressed air, the sheet feed rails resting on the bench surface are provided with groove-like or notch-like enlargements at the level of the blowing jets. Each of these extend over the entire length of the sheet feeder rails. These enlargements make it possible to position the inner surfaces of the sheet feeder rails so closely and tightly against the longitudinal edges of the stack of sheets that only small amounts of compressed air can escape upward. The formation of an air cushion is improved by this in such a way that the stack height can be more than double without adversely affecting the single-sheet separation.

  • Patent number: 4603848
Abstract: A sheet separator for a sheet feeder comprises a friction cylinder which is rotatable for feeding a sheet from a stack of sheets. A retaining member is mounted for radial movement with respect to the friction cylinder. The retaining member has a friction surface which holds back other sheets in the stack and which forms with the friction cylinder a passage gap which is adjusted to the thickness of a sheet to be fed. A carrier is connected to and supports the retaining member. An adjustment mechanism is provided between the carrier and the retaining member for adjusting the passage gap width. A bracket is mounted for radial movement on the carrier and has a contact surface for engaging the friction cylinder or a sheet held in the passage gap. • Patent number: 4585219
Abstract: A folding machine includes an entrance feed for the infeed of materials to be folded which are operated on by a plurality of folding devices arranged along the feed path, each of which feeds the material after folding into a receiving pocket which has an adjustable stop. The stop is adjusted so that the materials being fed are received in the pocket at the correct location so as to position them for subsequent folding or for ejecting at an ejection point. The invention provides a conveyor belt which operates so that an upper transport reach is movable below the ejection point to receive the folded materials. Associated with the conveyor is a brake element which overlies the materials which are fed on the conveyor transport reach. The brake element rests on the folding material and is mounted so that it applies a yieldable pressure on the materials as they moved therealong.

  • Patent number: 4579330
Abstract: A pneumatic sheet feeder for removing individual sheets from a stack comprises a table having a surface for supporting a stack of sheets. A pair of parallel guide rails are provided on the table and with facing surfaces so that the stack is confined between the guide rails for movement in a feed direction across the table. Blast nozzles are provided in the guide rails for blowing air against the stack to form an air cushion between lower sheets of the stack. A suction cylinder is rotatably mounted to the table and includes a suction chamber therein for receiving a vacuum. Radial openings in the suction chamber cause a suction induced adhesion of a leading edge of a lowermost feed in the stack so that with rotation of the cylinder, the lowermost feed is fed in the feed direction away from the rest of the stack. A single blower is provided with a pair of two-way solenoid valves and a switching circuit is provided for alternately activating the valves.

  • Patent number: 4573672
Abstract: A folding machine for folding sheet material comprises a housing defining a space and having an in-take opening and a discharge opening for sheet material before and after it is folded. A frame is provided in the housing and carries four rollers which are engaged with each other to form a take-in nip for receiving sheet material from the in-take opening, a first folding nip for executing a first fold on the paper and a second folding nip for executing a second fold of the paper. The rollers are engaged to each other by gears and are rotated by a single electric motor for moving the sheet material from the take-in nip to the first folding nip and from the first folding nip to the second folding nip. A pocket is formed upstream of the first folding nip in the housing for receiving the sheet of paper to stop its forward progress. The sheet of paper is continued to be fed by the take-in nip so that it folds into the first folding nip which draws the now once folded paper from the first pocket.

  • Patent number: 4116128
Abstract: A device for controlling and monitoring the level of a washing liquid in a washing unit of a printing machine which includes a wash tank having a washing liquid therein and a pickup roller mounted in the tank and rotatable in the washing liquid to lift the liquid on the surface of the roller and transfer it to a rubber blanket roller to be cleaned, comprises a control tank which is connected to the wash tank and arranged at substantially the same level as the control tank. A supply tank for the washing liquid is located above the control tank and supplies liquid into the control tank under the regulation of an electromagnetically controlled valve. The valve is switched in order to provide for flow from the supply tank into the control tank in accordance with the level in the control tank.
