Abstract: In a method for renewing sleepers of a track formed of rails and the sleepers, the placement of skids, which support a machine frame of a track-building machine on the sleepers, is preceded by the machine frame being intermediately supported on the sleepers. The two rails are then distanced from one another, while avoiding a breakage separation, in a track section that includes both the region of the skids and the intermediate support. After supporting the machine frame on the skids, the intermediate support is lifted off the sleepers and work is begun.
Abstract: A system for securing a railway apparatus includes a support platform and a mechanism for securing the railway apparatus to the support platform, capable of switching from an unlocked state to a locked state. The securing mechanism has a guide rail, a trolley guided by the guide rail along a path which, when the support platform is in the loading position, is parallel to a reference plane, a device for immobilizing the trolley relative to the guide rail, an attachment member for attaching the railway apparatus secured to the trolley; and locking members for locking the guide rail relative to the support platform, which switch from an unlocked position to a locked position when the securing mechanism switches from the unlocked state to the locked state in the loading position of the platform, by urging the guide rail downwards relative to the support platform.
Abstract: A tamping machine includes at least one first tamping unit with first tamping tools and a first hydraulic motor provided with a first drive shaft driving the first tamping tools so as to generate tamping movements, and a second tamping unit adjacent the first tamping unit with second tamping tools and a second hydraulic motor provided with a second drive shaft driving the second tamping tools so as to generate tamping movements. The first hydraulic motor and the second hydraulic motor are supplied with power by a common synchronized hydraulic power supply system.
Abstract: A railroad renewal method includes, in particular: the removal of the old rail, the installation of the new rail and the primary adjustment of the temperature of the new rail to a set value at a point located upstream of and close to the attachment area on a crosstie. The thermodynamic behavior of the intermediate section of the new rail located between the primary temperature adjustment point and the attachment area is controlled by way of a device, provided with a control and management system, such that the temperature of the new rail is uniform, in the cross-section thereof, at a set value on the attachment point.
Abstract: A machine for repairing a ballast bed has an undercutter that defines a direction of movement of the repairing machine, and a distributor for dividing a flow of ballast entering from the undercutter into a rear flow of exiting ballast and a separate front flow of exiting ballast. At least one rear screening machine is positioned behind the undercutter in the direction of movement and is fed by the rear flow of exiting ballast. At least one front screening machine is positioned in front of the undercutter and fed by the front flow of exiting ballast, and the distributor has a variator for varying the ratio between the separate first and the second flows of exiting ballast.
Abstract: The invention relates to a gantry crane of a machine, for the exchange of sleepers on a track, which may be displaced in a machine longitudinal direction on crane tracks. Two crane buggies on the gantry crane, at a separation from each other in the machine transverse direction are embodied such as to be displaced relative to the crane chassis by means of a displacement drive for altering the gauge. The corresponding crane tracks may be adjusted in the track transverse direction by drives to change the gauge.
Abstract: The invention comprises essentially a first car (1) resting on a bogey running on the track to be replaced, and a second bogey (3) moving during the work cycles with the aid of two auxiliary devices (5, 6) above the old cross-ties (4) without rails. It also comprises a work unit for removing the old rails, a unit (8) for the old cross-ties (4) and a unit (10) for laying new cross-ties (2). The auxiliary devices (5, 6) are two retractable translation devices arranged so as to be able to move on the cross-ties (4) without rails and are disposed on either side of the second bogey (3).
Abstract: The measuring device for track building machines comprises an optical receiver device having two lenses (1, 2) aligned in one axis (3) and in each case at least one associated sensor strip (4, 5). The projections of light sources (A, B, C) disposed outside the receiver device onto the sensor strips (4, 5) produce signals which are evaluated and determine the size of the angle of the light source in relation to the optical axis. The provision of light-sensitive sensor strips (4, 5) makes it possible to dispense in an advantageous manner with mechanically rotating components in the receiver device.
Abstract: An auxiliary railroad track lifting assembly for assisting conventional lifting grippers of a railroad track construction machine, especially a tamper, in lifting a switchgear unit includes a lifting device carried by an arm articulated, at its end remote from the lifting device, on a carriage movable along a rail fastened to the flank of the machine. The assembly permits displacement of the construction machine between at least two successive tamping position in the longitudinal direction of the track with the auxiliary assembly remaining stationary.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for converting a railway-track renewal train into a train for laying new railway track. The railway-track renewal train includes a first truck bearing on a bogie rolling on a renewed track, a second truck bearing on spaced first and second bogies of which the first bogie rolls on an old track and the second bogie moves on old ties or sleepers, and various means for removing the old rails and sleepers and for laying new rails and sleepers. The bogie of the first truck is mounted onto a vehicle designed to remain on site and having a motor for moving the vehicle on the ballast or platform. The vehicle is moved in the direction of movement of the renewal train or in the opposite direction dependent on whether an old railway track is removed or new track is laid.
Abstract: A tie lifting machine comprises a reciprocating tie removing member provided with retractable push fingers for removing the ties from the ballast and pushing them onto an upwardly inclined ramp to an intermediate position, a fork-like tie lifting member adapted to lift the ties from the intermediate position up to a belt conveyor running in the direction of travel of the machine, and a tie pusher adapted, when the tie lifting member is in its upper position, to transfer the ties carried by this member to the belt conveyor.
Abstract: The machine is intended for the displacement of open track sections and switch gear. For this purpose, it is provided, for each line of rails, with a shifting roller (17), a hook (11) for the lifting of the switch gears and roller (12) for the lifting of the open sections, these tools being mounted on a tool holder (9, 10) moved by lifting (22) and shifting (23) jacks connected to the chassis (3) of the machine. The lifting hook (11) and the lifting roller (12) are mounted movable in rotation in a plane parallel to the track around a shaft (29) and are moved around said shaft by a jack (32) having two end-of-stroke positions corresponding to the operating position of one and the other of these two tools respectively. Other mountings permitting similar effects are described.
Abstract: A guidance system permits of guiding the railroad track positioning device of a track renewal and maintenance machine as the machine moves in the track working direction. To this end the curvature of a track section to be worked upon comprised in a chord of predetermined length is measured and as a function of this curvature the direction of a second chord is measured, one end of this second chord being coincident with the rear end of the section whereas its predetermined and constant length is so selected that its other end lies on the already renewed or maintained track section and shows the position of a point of this section before the renewal or maintenance works.
Abstract: A train for laying railroad track comprises cars for storing ties and a single working truck carrying a gantry and conveyor for transporting ties from the storage cars and laying them in front of the working truck. Roller clamps at opposite sides of the working truck move rails from the sides of the road bed and positioned them on the ties that have been laid. The working truck has a rear bogie running on the rails after they have been positioned and a front bogie supported by a carriage sliding or rolling on railless ties that have been laid on the road bed. The tie laying device is supported in overhanging relationship by the front end of the working truck together with a device for levelling and/or tamping the platform or ballast.
Abstract: This plough adapted to be mounted on a railroad tracklaying machine comprises in its plough area members capable of disaggregating and/or thrusting aside the old compact ballast. These members consist of ejectors acting like pistons and extending through apertures formed in the ploughshares; the ejectors movable across the normal direction of travel of the plough under the control are driven by an actuating mechanism imparting a reciprocating motion thereto, and may be replaced by blades disposed beneath, and substantially parallel to, the ploughshares, the actuating mechanism being adapted to impart to these blades a movement substantially of translation along a closed path.
Abstract: A plough to be applied to a machine for rehabilitating a railway track, for performing the operation consisting in displacing the ballast to be renewed. Lateral ejectors are applied to the lower portion of the plough and actuated alternatively for breaking the compact ballast and push the gravel so as to gradually accumulate same on the sides and afford and easy forward travel of the plough for making a relatively deep cutting into which the new ties can be laid without requiring a subsequent sinking thereof. The lateral ejectors are actuated two at a time, one to the right and the other to the left, for compensating side stress. A possible mechanism for actuating the lateral ejectors comprises rockers having unequal arms and actuated by a hydraulic cylinder.
Abstract: Apparatus for tamping the bed of a railway track comprises a wheel mounted tamping machine frame on which is mounted a vertically displaceable support for tamping tools. The tools are mounted on the tool support in opposed pairs and each tool comprises an arm having at least one pick extending therefrom and provided at its lower end with a blade. A motor driven crank-shaft is journalled in a bearing rigidly connected to the tool support and includes eccentric bearings on each of which the arm of a tamping tool is pivoted by its end remote from the blade so as to impart vibratory oscillations to the tool. So that substantially only generally horizontal vibratory oscillations are transmitted to the blade, the arms of the tools are formed of a generally squarely elbowed configuration, and are each connected to the tool support by a double-acting piston cylinder.
Abstract: There is described a mobile apparatus for laying of railway tracks. The apparatus includes a working tool carrying chassis capable of laying of new ties, a wagon for transporting and handling of material necessary for the track laying and a carrying bridge structure having one end carried by a rolling support and the other end comprising a rolling support and at least one supplementary retractable rolling support which is adapted to bear on the track bed. The carrying chassis is suspended above a working zone from the carrying bridge structure. The device is characterized in that the carrying bridge structure includes a wagon having only a single rolling support disposed at its end and provided with the aforementioned retractable supplementary rolling support and a longitudinally extending raised chassis which is pivoted at its other end to an overhanging bracket extending from the wagon which transports and handles the material.
Abstract: There is shown a mobile machine for the renewal of railroad tracks which includes a work tool carrying chassis to replace old ties by new ones. The machine comprises two wagons, one of which is arranged to transport stock and handle the materials necessary for the track replacement and one of the two wagons rolls and advances on the new reconstituted track. The work tool carrying chassis is interposed between rolling supports of the wagons in a work zone and is suspended from a connecting member on each of the two wagons. The geometrical disposition of the supports and of the joints between the two wagons is such that the longitudinal axis of the tool carrying chassis, in the plane of the track, is automatically tangential with the longitudinal axis of the track. One of the two wagons has two spaced apart rolling supports and is provided with an overhanging extension over the work zone in the form of a bracket terminating in a joint.
