  • Patent number: 5468642
Abstract: A device for monitoring the boron content of the borophosphosilicate, BPSG. The BPSG is obtained by the oxidation of silane, of diborane and of phosphine in a reactor, starting with a first, diborane/silane gas mixture and a second, phosphine/silane gas mixture by monitoring the ratio .rho.=diborane/(diborane+silane) of the mixture resulting from the mixing of the first and second gas mixtures. Monitoring of the boron content is obtained by measuring the density of the first mixture, determining the amount of residual hydrogen in the first mixture and modulating the mass flow rate of the first mixture in response to the calculated ratio .rho..

  • Patent number: 5451941
Abstract: The system comprises an interrogation assembly and a passive responder. One is carried by a mobile and the other by a track. The interrogation assembly includes continuously operating low frequency and medium frequency transmitters. The transmitters have respective antennas directed towards a predetermined zone with respect to the antennas, which is traversed by the responder during movement of the mobile. It further has a unit which is responsive to the characteristics of the responder when the responder is in the zone. The responder has a low frequency reception circuit which controls a medium frequency circuit. Both circuits have radiating circuits which are tuned and the low frequency signal generated in the low frequency circuit is used to short-circuit the medium frequency tuned circuit of the responder, at the rate of low frequency rate.

  • Patent number: 5448286
Abstract: In order to establish a videophone communication from a calling terminal to a called terminal, a communication is established on a first TBCC channel, then a ringing tone is emitted automatically, from the called terminal, to the calling terminal on the first channel and a call is emitted to the telephone set on the second channel B; in response to the unhooking of the telephone handset the two channels are automatically linked from the called terminal; and, in response to a code from the telephone set, the emission is caused of a waiting tone to the calling terminal and a ringing to the called videophone terminal; in the event of acceptance on the part of the subscriber of the called videophone terminal, the establishment of communication is automatically continued in response to the hooking of the set.

  • Patent number: 5448600
Abstract: Each path is identified by a delay which is applied to at least one spreading sequence for determining a correlation between the received signal ans said spreading sequence. For each selected delay, a reception energy, contained in the CDMA signal consisting of a correlation between the received signal and a reference spreading sequence, is estimated. Delays to be tested are randomly chosen with a choice probability having a maximum for a delay substantially equal to the smallest selected delay. The delays thus chosen are tested by estimating the reception energy associated thereto. When the reception energy for a tested delay is greater than at least one of the reception energies associated to the previously selected delays, the tested delay is substituted for the previously selected delay having the smallest reception energy.

  • Patent number: 5412724
Abstract: The method is for generating a digital multiplex signal for broadcasting. The multiplex is made up of packets of determined length coming from a plurality of sources, by applying a treatment selected from those belonging to a catalog of stored treatments. It is applicable to D2-MAC/packet and digital TV. An encoder implementing the method has sources in which the identity of the treatment to be performed is inserted in a field provided for this purpose in each packet precursor. Downstream from the sources, the encoder comprises a treatment unit for decoding the field and for causing the treatment defined by the field to be applied.

  • Patent number: 5398247
Abstract: According to the method, a physical transmission channel is split into a plurality of logic channels which may be dedicated to different communications. Each logic channel consists of time slots having a same duration and the same rank in successive frames of constant length. At least one of the logic channels is split into a plurality of sub-channels dedicated to different communications. Groups of k successive time slots (k being an integer greater than 1) are allocated to each logic sub-channel. The groups are time distributed in a regular way and k is so selected that N be different from (m.k+1) where m is an integer and N is the number of time intervals necessary for reconstructing an information block.

  • Patent number: 5339623
Abstract: A spacecraft has, in addition to redundant thrusters T3, T4 prime thrusters T1 or T2 arranged to be operated one at a time which are supplied with propellant 1 via valves V1 and V2. The thrusters are of the kind in which energy is transferred to the propellant by employing electrodes which create a current flow path through the propellant gas. A single power supply PSU1 provides power to several electrically-powered thrusters. It is connected such that when actuated all the thrusters to which it is connected become charged. However, only the thruster which receives propellant is able to carry current as the propellant forms part of the current carrying circuit, and this thruster therefore draws power. This technique allows the use of a single power supply for several thrusters while eliminating or minimizing the necessity to switch power from one thruster to another.

A first group of transmission lines interconnect the first and second sets of hybrid couplers, and a second group of transmission lines interconnect the second and third sets of hybrid couplers The first and third sets of couplers each give a 3 dB power reduction, but the second set give a 1:2 power split between their outputs. Three 90.degree. phase shift, devices X, Y and Z correct the phase of the signals in three of the transmission lines of the second group. When equal amplitude signals are applied to all of the input ports, the combined signal can be directed to any one of the output ports by appropriately selecting the respective phases of the input signals.
