  • Patent number: 7344046
Abstract: A spacerless double bottom apparatus for a storage tank having a metal bottom and upwardly extending metal sidewalls. The apparatus includes a first lining layer of flexible plastic on top of the metal bottom. A plastic grid having a plurality of openings therethrough is installed on top of the first lining layer. At least one layer of fiber insulation is installed and resides on top of the grid. An upper metal bottom on top of the fiber insulation is welded to the sidewalls to form a fluid tight secondary containment compartment.

  • Patent number: 5887908
Abstract: A moveable swivel joint assembly for joining a pair of pipes. A male body member includes a first open end attachable to one of the pipes and a second end having external threads, with a recess in the second end on each side of the external threads. A female body member includes a first open end attachable to the other pipe and a second end having internal threads which mate with the male body member external threads. A pair of o-ring seals are provided, one o-ring seal residing in each recess in order to provide an internal and external seal for the swivel joint assembly while allowing rotation of the body members with each other.

  • Patent number: 5445173
Abstract: A system is provided for stirring and thereby reducing build up of bottom sediments in a storage tank, the system including a vertical outer casing having an intermediate opening communicating with a horizontal tubular member so that the vertical outer casing is supported within the interior of the tank and above the tank bottom. A perforated inner casing is rotatably supported within the vertical outer casing. An elbow fitting is affixed to one end of the inner casing. A nozzle is affixed to the elbow having an outlet directed to horizontally discharge fluid over the tank bottom. A stepping motor is secured to the outer casing and has an output shaft affixed to the inner casing by which the inner casing is rotated to discharge recirculated tank fluid over the tank bottom to stir up and suspend bottom sediments.

  • Patent number: 5351848
Abstract: A device for sealing the rim space between a floating cover, movably disposed within a storage tank, and the inner wall of the storage tank. The device includes a peripheral sealing ring formed of a plurality of overlapped shoe segments, each segment having a first and second opposed edge to overlap with adjacent segments. Countersunk apertures are provided in each shoe segment, one aperture near the first edge. A fastener extends through each aperture so that a head of the fastener will reside within a recess formed by the countersunk aperture. At least one movable rod extends past the first edge. A clip for each fastener has a space for slidably receiving the rod, each second side free to slidably overlap the first side and the fastener.

  • Patent number: 5036995
Abstract: A rim space sealing device comprising a peripheral sealing ring of over-lapped shoe segments attached to a floating cover within a storage tank. Spring loaded hanger-pushers and horizontal springs keep the peripheral sealing ring of shoe segments pressed against the tank wall and also keep the floating cover centered within the tank. The space between the peripheral sealing ring of shoe segments and the floating cover is covered by a flexible fabric that prevents product loss. Vertical movement of the individual shoe segments over each other is prevented by a series of circumferentially arranged rods. The over-lap of the shoe segments is restricted by a series of bars forming expansion-contraction spaces.
