  • Patent number: 6026211
Abstract: A recording and reproducing apparatus is disclosed in which video signal and indexing signal are separately recorded in video signal areas and subcode areas, respectively, of diagonal tracks formed on a tape by a rotating head. The apparatus has a tape driver for driving the tape, add/erase command keys for generating add/erase command to add/erase the indexing signal, an indexing signal control for setting and resetting the indexing signal, and a recording device for recording the video signal to the video signal area and, if any, the indexing signal to the subcode area of each track. An editing control is provided for controlling the indexing signal control in response to the add/erase command such that the indexing signal is first recorded as a reset state for a first predetermined amount and then recorded as a set state.

  • Patent number: 5675258
Abstract: In a method of detecting deterioration of a battery pack consisting of a series assembly of a plurality of battery modules during charging, on the basis of a voltage difference between a plurality of battery modules, deterioration detection is inhibited until a predetermined capacity is charged after starting of the charge. Also, in a detection apparatus for deterioration in a battery pack according to the present invention, a deterioration reference discharge voltage value which should correspond to a discharge current value and a temperature value is calculated on the basis of reference data, and the deterioration reference discharge voltage value is compared with an actual discharge voltage value to judge whether deterioration occurs or not.

  • Patent number: 5444562
Abstract: An optical transmission apparatus has an electro-optic converter device which converts an electrical signal into an intensity-modulated light signal in such a way that the amount of wavelength chirping is less than a given amount. Therefore a first optical fiber transmission path can convey the signal over a long distance with a small amount of waveform distortion. An optical property change device changes an optical property of the light signal sent from the first optical fiber transmission path. Therefore a second optical fiber transmission path can transmit the changed light signal to demanders' opto-electronic converter device while alleviating waveform distortion due to interference of plural light waves. The light signal is reconverted into an electrical signal.

  • Patent number: 5378976
Abstract: A brushless DC motor detects a positional relationship between the rotor and the stator windings in a short period of time when starting the motor and immediately switches the mode from a phase coincidence mode at the time of starting to a normal position detecting mode performed by counting output pulses in response to the rotational speed of the rotor. The motor detects a position of the rotor at an extremely high accuracy independently of the magnitude of the load even when the motor has already been subjected to the application of such a load at the time of starting. The motor is always driven at a high efficiency by applying a phase correction process so as to cause the phase of each of the voltages respectively induced in the stator windings to coincide with the corresponding one of the driving currents respectively outputted to the stator windings when the motor is being rotated normally.

  • Patent number: 5349868
Abstract: In a bridge circuit of a pressure sensor, resistances are connected in series to the impedances of a pressure detection coil and of a dummy coil for differential provided for deforming and non-deforming parts, and the values of the resistances are smaller than the impedances of the coils. The inductance and the internal resistance of the coils are measured under zero pressure and under the highest rating pressure. The resistance connected to the pressure detector coil is determined so that the sensor output sensitivity, represented as a difference of the sensor outputs under zero pressure and under the highest rating pressure, at the highest temperature agrees with that at the lowest temperature. The resistance connected to the dummy coil is determined so that the sensor output, represented as a difference of the sensor outputs under zero pressure, at the highest temperature agrees with that at the lowest temperature.

  • Patent number: 5076653
Abstract: An infrared optical fiber is disclosed which has a composition ratio of silver chloride and silver bromide in the range of 30 to 70 percent by weight of silver chloride, and has a diameter of 0.5 mm or less. The infrared optical fiber has great mechanical strength, so that it does not burn because of degradation in the laser beam transmission capability, even after 2,000 times of repetitive bending with a curvature radius of 20 mm, which is the condition necessary for use within the interior of a body, and it exhibits excellent radiant optical characteristics. In particular, an infrared optical fiber with a diameter of 0.35 mm or less is preferred, because such an infrared optical fiber withstands over 10,000 times of repetitive bending under the same condition as above and can therefore be repeatedly used many times.

  • Patent number: 4725776
Abstract: A magnetic detector of the present invention employs magneto-resistive elements and detects magnetic teeth of an object to be detected, and more particularly, a constant DC magnetic field is supplied to the magneto-resistive elements in such a way so as to avoid a non-linear region of the DC magnetic field to permit the use of such elements in the region exhibiting good linearity. The present invention provides the DC magnetic field to the magneto-resistive elements by employing a simple structure wherein the magneto-resistive elements are arranged inclined relative to the magnetic field defined between a permanent magnet and the magnetic teeth. Furthermore, the magneto-resistive elements having two phases delayed by .pi./2 are used in a half-bridge so as to improve the stability, waveform distortion, etc. with respect to the temperature of the detected signal.
