  • Patent number: 4930933
Abstract: An attaching socket of a working implement fits a tool shaft and has an exterior clamping device with a clamping piece, which with the clamping device in a closed condition engages in the tool shaft through an opening in a wall of the attaching socket. The clamping piece is mounted on a clamping lever which is mounted pivotable exteriorly on the attaching socket about a pivot axis extending substantially perpendicular to the sleeve axis and extends from that pivot axis substantially further than the length of the clamping piece. This clamping piece together with the clamping lever form a bent lever. The clamping lever is pivoted in against the tool shaft in the closed condition of the clamping device, while it is swung out in the open condition far enough from it so that the clamping piece is out of engagement with the tool shaft. With the clamping device closed the end of the tool shaft is braced by the clamping piece axially against a backstop formed by and in the attaching socket.

  • Patent number: 4768258
Abstract: A connecting ring which is screwed with a collar in a passage of a tool handle provides a connection of the tool handle with an extension. The edge of the collar is provided with locking teeth and the interior wall of the tool handle in the passage is provided with locking projections. On screwing in the collar in the passage of the tool handle the locking teeth come into engagement with the locking projections to form a locking seat for the collar in the tool handle by motion in the circumferential direction around the tool handle. This secures the screw connection from undesired loosening. In the same way as the connecting ring can be secured to the tool handle also the cap closing the passage can be secured in a locking seat when the extension is removed from the handle and is not used.

  • Patent number: 4360971
Abstract: A garden trimmer has a housing containing a motor whose output is rotatable about a motor axis and is connected to a cutter line which lies in a plane perpendicular to this axis when the output is rotated. A handle shaft extends at an acute angle to the motor axis from the housing and has an outer end provided with a Y-shaped handle having a central Y-leg fixed concentrically on the outer shaft end and a pair of Y-arms, with the legs and arms generally angularly equispaced at about 120.degree.. The handle is formed on the leg adjacent the intersection of the arms and legs with a throughgoing window in which is exposed the actuation button of an on-off switch for the motor. Thus either Y-arm of the handle can be grasped by either hand of the user, with the respective pointing or index finger engaged through the window to operate the switch, so that the tool can comfortably be used with the cutter-line plane either vertical or horizontal.

  • Patent number: 4335568
Abstract: A filament-type vegetation trimmer has an electric motor, a head rotatable by the motor, and a supply of a filament in the head, with the filament extending from the head, whereby on rotation of the head by the motor the extending filament section can cut vegetation. The trimmer further comprises a circuit for detecting the current consumption of the motor and for generating an actual-value output corresponding thereto, an actual-value generator for generating a set-point output corresponding to the current consumption of the motor when the filament is extending from the head by less than a predetermined distance, and a comparator for comparing these outputs and generating a signal when the actual-value output is less than the set-point output.

  • Patent number: 4232422
Abstract: A tool such as a garden cultivator, squeegee, or paint-roller holder has a relatively short handle provided at its rear end with a relatively deep backwardly open recess. An extension handle has a relatively long front end engageable relatively far into this recess and is provided with a fixed ring formed with a multiple screwthread engageable with a similar formation inside the recess so that the two parts can be locked together by a single revolution relative to each other. At its rear end the extension handle is provided with a cap having a forwardly directed end and screwthread formations similar to that of the front and of the extension handle so that this cap can be placed on the rear end of the short handle of the tool if desired.

  • Patent number: 4007526
Abstract: A lawn-edge trimmer with a grip at the top of a motor housing, a shield plate at the bottom of that housing overlying a rotor, and a detachable mounting forming a socket for a long-stemmed handle has a motor-control switch with a spring-loaded trigger on the underside of the grip in a cutout of the web-shaped mounting. The tubular handle stem is axially traversed by a thrust rod which, on being displaced by a knob near the handle, acts through a camming mechanism on the mounting to depress the trigger when the mounting and the handle are emplaced on the housing.
