Patent number: 4850567Abstract: A ball valve is provided with a blocking mechanism which automatically blocks its control shaft in its respective rotary position between a closure position and an open position when the control movement takes place too rapidly. The blocking mechanism responds to the respective rotary position of an annular inertia body which is rotatably mounted on the ball valve housing and the rotary movement of which effected by spring action is initiated by the rotation of the control shaft and is retarded by its inertia. On adequately slow actuation of the control shaft the blocking mechanism does not become operative. When the actuation is too rapid and could lead to potentially damaging high pressure peaks the control shaft is blocked by the blocking mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: October 15, 1987Date of Patent: July 25, 1989Assignee: Max Widenmann ArmaturenfabrikInventor: Martin J. Patent number: 4771806Abstract: A compact pressure-limiting valve is provided for optional attachment to a water-conducting device which for this purpose comprises a flange which matches the connecting flange of the pressure-limiting valve and which can be closed with a closure-plate when the pressure-limiting valve is not required. A compact unit providing high response speed of the pressure-limiting valve is achieved by a particular relative arrangement of the main piston and the pilot valve piston and by short and loss-free flow connections in the interior of the pressure-limiting valve. In spite of the high response speed and the compact constructional form the pressure-limiting valve is distinguished by a large flow cross-section for levelling pressure peaks.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 1987Date of Patent: September 20, 1988Assignee: Max Widenmann ArmaturenfabrikInventor: Karl Widenmann

Patent number: 4738475Abstract: The hose clamp for fire hoses on hose couplings comprises a nipple whereon the hose end is pushed. The hose end is pressed on the nipple via a radially resiliently compressible clamping sleeve by means of a clamping element against the outer surface of the nipple. The clamping sleeve comprises a conical outer face and the clamping element a conical inner face cooperating therewith. The clamping element consists of two generally semicylindrical clamping shells which are braced against each other at their peripheral ends by clamping screws which extend approximately tangentially through the wall thickness of the clamping shells. The nipple comprises an encircling annular collar which forms a radial abutment face for the hose end and the clamping sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1986Date of Patent: April 19, 1988Assignee: Max Widenmann ArmaturenfabrikInventor: Karl Ebert

Patent number: 4524997Abstract: A hose coupling for connecting lengths of fire hose is formed by coupling halves. Each coupling half includes a hose connection piece and a cam ring rotatable relative to the hose connection piece. The cam rings provide a bayonet-type locking engagement. The hose connection piece has two serially arranged axially extending sections each of different diameters. The larger diameter section receives and holds a length of the fire hose. A neck on the cam ring is rotatably attached to the smaller diameter section. The neck on the cam ring is held on the smaller diameter section against movement in the axial direction. A resilient back-springing holding ring is located adjacent the free end of a smaller diameter section in a recess in the section. The holding ring in combination with the free end of the smaller diameter section forms an annular space in which a sealing ring for the coupling is secured.Type: GrantFiled: March 15, 1984Date of Patent: June 25, 1985Assignee: Max Widenmann ArmaturenfabrikInventor: Karl Ebert

Patent number: 4523778Abstract: The invention relates to a hose coupling whose halves are held together by identical cam rings (Storz coupling). For the solution of the problem to construct the connections which are to be arranged in the halves of such couplings to be short and light and in one piece and consequently without sealing problems even when the outer diameter of the connection is as large or even larger than the diameter of the cylinder which is limited by the inside of the cams, the joining between the connection and the cam rings is of similar construction as in cam rings of coupled coupling halves in that the connection (3) at its end which is to be joined with a cam ring (1) has an extension (6) which extends radially outwardly, forms a stop and is preferably constructed as a collar. In the cam ring (1) a shoulder (9) of a recess (8) of angular cross-section which extends behind the cams (2) is provided as a counterstop for the extension.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 1982Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: Max Widenmann, ArmaturenfabrikInventor: Karl Ebert
