  • Patent number: 4691535
Abstract: A yarn-selecting device of a knitting frame comprises a mechanism for joig the yarn being knitted to a selected yarn to be knitted, which mechanism comprises a swivelling finger for forming a closed loop of the yarn to be knitted. Two levers form an open loop of the yarn being knitted and insert it through the closed loop of the yarn to be knitted on the finger. A hooking lever is provided for pulling the yarn to be knitted through the open loop of the yarn being knitted, after which the open loop-forming lever is retracted thus removing the closed loop from the finger, and the yarn being knitted is cut by a knife while the end of the yarn to be knitted is released from a gripper.

  • Patent number: 4632324
Abstract: A simplified strand storage and feeding device having a rotatable spool about which a traveling yarn is transiently wound while being fed to a textile machine, utilizes a noval driving arrangement for rotation of the spool, including a pulley operatively affixed to the spool and having plural radial teeth circumferentially spaced about one side of a belt receiving recess in the pulley and a driving belt having compatible edge notches meshing with the pulley teeth. The edge notched configuration of the belt provides positively timed driving of the device while also being spliceable by mechanical interconnection of separate belt ends, so that the belt may be of non-endless form for ease of installation and breaks therein may be easily repaired by splicing. A slidably movable yarn withdrawal guide eyelet is provided for withdrawing yarn from the spool either tangentially or generally axially therefrom for operation of the device in either a positive or demand feeding mode.

  • Patent number: 4089279
Abstract: An improved technique for automatically producing a reinforced, peripherally contoured fabric blank adapted to be folded over and sewn to form a finished panty is described. A plurality of fabric segments to the central portion of which an underlying reinforcing strip is sewn is advanced along a conveyor and into a first one of a plurality of work stations distributed around a turret that is rotatably carried on a fixed support. A plurality of magnetically-actuable fabric holders are rotatably supported on the outer ends of corresponding spider arms that extend toward the work stations from the turret. Each holder has a contoured periphery corresponding to that of the panty blank, and after receiving the fabric segment from the conveyor indexes it successively into a plurality of second work stations each equipped with a contour sewing machine.
