Abstract: A skiver for precise removal of outside material from an elongated device, such as a medical catheter or the like, includes a longitudinal recess in a surface and a transverse replaceable blade therein. A removable cover holds the blade in place. In some embodiments, the skiver has a handle extending from the skiver. In other embodiments, an automated mechanism is used to move the elongated device through the skiver.

In some embodiments, the punch comprises a first assembly that is positioned on one side of the device to be punched and a second assembly is positioned on the other side. One of the assemblies comprises a male punch and the other comprises a female die plate. In some embodiments, rotation of a bolt causes the male punch to move through the device to be punched and into the female die plate. In some embodiments, the device to be punched is a rain gutter. In some embodiments, one or both of the first and second assemblies have magnets so that the punch can be releasably assembled with the assemblies on either side of the device to be punched.
