Abstract: The present invention relates to a bioanalytical device (1), comprising: a housing (2) comprising an internal space (20) configured to accommodate a carrier (3) at a certain location, the carrier (3) carrying a moist medium (30), a humidity sensor (4) configured to measure a humidity in said internal space (20) and to provide an output signal indicative of said humidity, and an analyzing unit (5) operatively connected to the humidity sensor (4) so as to receive said output signal, wherein the analyzing (5) unit is configured to derive from said output signal a change of said humidity over time for detecting a presence of the carrier (3) carrying the moist medium (30) in the internal space (20) of the housing (2).
