Abstract: An improved hydraulic system and method of operating same for waste collection vehicles is provided where a closed center valve in conjunction with a positive displacement pump is used without the need for increasing engine RPM, thus significantly reducing vehicle noise during operation of the hydraulic system.

Abstract: An integral valve-cylinder assembly and a fork folding hydraulic system for front loading waste collection vehicles is provided that allows the forks to be full tucked for over-the-road travel and without exceeding the vehicle height limit that uses a multi-port hydraulic cylinder integrated with a remotely activated valve that is operated with a single control valve from within the vehicle cab.

Abstract: A door latch and sealing assembly associated with a waste container having an open end and at least one door positioned adjacent to and overlying the open end. The assembly includes a tapered seal actuator, and a seal actuator drive mechanism associated with the seal actuator and adapted to drive the seal actuator. A receiver is rigidly attached to the container and is adapted for operable engagement with the seal actuator. An elastomeric gasket is positioned between the open end and the door. In operation, extension of the seal actuator drive mechanism causes the seal actuator to engage the receiver; the receiver then reactively imparts to the seal actuator a compressive force on the door sufficient to establish a liquid-tight or hermetic seal.

Abstract: An immproved lid assembly for roll-off sludge containers is provided wher the lid assembly is supported by oppositely disposed lip portions which extend longitudinally along each side of an opening formed in an upper side of the sludge container. The lid assembly comprises a plurality of lid members and a roller assembly connected to each of the lid members so that the lid members can be selectively moved between a first position and a second position relative to the opening of the sludge container. In the first position the lid members are telescopically disposed in adjacent lid members, thus providing access to selected portions of the opening in the sludge container. In the second position, the lid members are extended and close off the opening in the sludge container.

Abstract: A trash compactor comprising a body having a trash receiving area and an access door through which trash may be deposited to the trash receiving area. A vertically movable ram is movable from a position adjacent said access door to a compacting position. Means are provided operable by the downward movement of the ram to lock said access door during the downward movement of the ram.

Abstract: A waste compactor comprising a frame, a compactor member movable on the frame into and out of a cart associated with the frame. The cart is removable from the frame and comprises two sections pivoted to one another about a generally horizontal axis. When in one position, the sections define a bottom wall, side walls, and end walls having an open end for receiving a disposable waste container. The cart is removable from the frame so that one of the sections may be pivoted about the horizontal axis upwardly to move one of the end walls out of position in order that the disposable container can be removed by horizontal movement.
