Patent number: 5649587Abstract: A fan shroud and receptacle arrangement for use adjacent a vehicle radiator and around one or more engine cooling fans. The arrangement includes a shaped hollow body of a predetermined depth and having a front face, a rear face, a top wall, a bottom wall, oppositely disposed side walls, at least one opening formed through the body with a cylindrical wall therearound. Oppositely disposed recesses are formed in the front and rear faces to form a wall for dividing the hollow body into two or more internal chambers. Filler necks and/or other openings are formed in the top wall for communicating with the two or more internal chambers.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1996Date of Patent: July 22, 1997Assignee: McCord Winn Textron, Inc.Inventor: William David Plant

Patent number: 5530311Abstract: A face type commutator (10) includes a hat shaped member (12) and an insulator hub (14) with an armature axis of rotation (22). The hat shaped member (12) has a plate portion (24) with a brush contact surface (26) in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation (22) and a cylindrical portion (16) that extends axially from the brush contact surface and defines a cavity (46). The hub (14) fills the cavity (46) and slots (42) in the cylindrical portion (16). Grooves (70) divide the plate portion (24) into a plurality of collector segments (72). A cylindrical sealing surface (76) is formed on the cylindrical portion (16) and portions of the hub (14) below the grooves (70). Tangs (30) integral with the cylindrical portion (16) below the cylindrical sealing surface (76) each have a radially extending leg portion (32) and a foot portion (34) that extends circumferentially from both sides of the leg portion to hold armature coil wires (40) on the leg portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 24, 1994Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Assignee: McCord Winn Textron, Inc.Inventor: William E. Patent number: 5152579Abstract: A low pressure pumping system for power inflating and power bleeding the lumbar support of a vehicular seat including a low pressure air cell mounted in the back support. A two-position pneumatic switch serves to selectively alternately reverse a motor and pump to inflate the air cell to a predetermined capacity of less than 5 p.s.i., and to deflate the air cell through a bleed valve. The two-position pneumatic switch includes a double pole, double throw switch and a slide valve which is positioned open when the air cell is inflated. The motor is sized to stall when the predetermined capacity is attained to prevent over inflation of the air cell.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 1990Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: McCord Winn Textron Inc.Inventor: Macram N. Bishai

Patent number: 5152681Abstract: A high pressure vane pump has a two-piece rotor enclosed by a housing having an inlet and an outlet and an eccentric ring for controlling the reciprocation of vanes in a guide part of the rotor; the eccentric ring is closed by opposite end plates and a moveable crown part of the rotor is supported on the guide part to provide four degrees of freedom between the guide part and the crown part including movement of the crown part axially of the guide part; movement of the crown part clockwise and counterclockwise of the guide part; and yaw movement of the crown part with respect to the vertical axis of the guide part. Rotation of the rotor causes the crown part to be shifted axially of the guide part to increase the pressure output of the pump at high speed operation and to reduce the frictional losses between the rotor and the housing during start-up.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1990Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: McCord Winn Textron Inc.Inventor: Macram N. Patent number: 5065651Abstract: A method for finishing the full radial surface of a face type commutator includes relatively rotating the commutator on its axis with respect to a cutter to form a finish on the commutator face which includes radially inwardly cross hatch segments which become progressively open toward the outer periphery of the commutator and which end in a series of generally radially directed single line segments at the radially outer portion of each of the conductor segments of the commutator so as to dress slot edged during cutting to prevent formation of slot burrs; thereafter brushing the commutator face to remove loose chips therefrom followed by finishing the surface to remove irregularities therefrom and to form surface roughness thereon for brush run-in.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1989Date of Patent: November 19, 1991Assignee: McCord Winn Textron Inc.Inventor: Louis F. Patent number: 5009212Abstract: An air fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine includes a plurality of fuel injectors supplied with fuel from a common fuel supply and supplied with air for producing a fuel spray pattern immediately upstream of an inlet valve to the combustion bowl of one of the engines cylinders and downstream of the induction air passage which supplies combustion air to the combustion bowl. The injection air supply is provided by an integral motor pump assembly having an electric motor driving a balanced lobe vane pump. The pump motor is electrically driven to charge the fuel injectors with high pressure air before the engine is started and independent of engine operation. The balanced lobe vane pump has an inlet connected to the PVC valve of the engine to provide a oil mist lubrication of the operative wear surfaces of the vane pump and the vane pump has an inlet connected to an air manifold for supplying lower noise and pulse air pressure thereto.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1990Date of Patent: April 23, 1991Assignee: McCord Winn Textron Inc.Inventor: Macram N. Bishai

Patent number: 4900235Abstract: A windshield washer pump including comprising an impeller chamber having a reversible impeller rotatably mounted therein and an inlet for windshield washer fluid communicating therewith. Dual outlets communicate between the impeller chamber and opposite ends of an adjacent outlet chamber. A piston is slidably mounted in the outlet chamber intermediate axially aligned tubular discharge passages extending from the outlet chamber. Oppositely disposed projections are formed on the piston for being alternately urged into engagement with the tubular discharge passages, permitting the alternate pumping of fluid through the tubular discharge passages.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1989Date of Patent: February 13, 1990Assignee: McCord Winn Textron Inc.Inventors: Jimmie G. Perkins, James W. Grim
