    Abstract: A self-centering container closure includes a locator annulus which extends downwardly from the undersurface of the crown, radially inwardly from a resilient fin. The annulus extends downwardly by a distance greater than the fin and has an outer diameter slightly smaller than that of the inner diameter of the neck of the container with which it is to be used. The annulus assists with centering the closure on the container as the closure is screwed onto the container.

    Abstract: The invention provides a container closure molded from a plastics material and comprising a crown, an annular skirt depending from the crown and provided with a screw-thread on its internal surface, a tamper-evident ring connected to the free end of the annular skirt by a series of frangible bridges extending across an axial gap or circumferential line of weakening between the ring and the skirt, the ring having on its inner surface a series of integral radially inwardly projecting protrusions each having a contact surface generally facing the crown, wherein each bridge is formed with a weakened portion in the unscrewing direction, whereby during unscrewing of the closure from a container neck with a security band formation, the fracture of the bridges occurs as a result of tension and shear forces to provide a sequential separation.

    Abstract: The screw-thread neck of a container, e.g. a glass bottle, has a closure with a tamper-evident ring connected to the lower end of the skirt of the closure by frangible bridges. Opposite the ring, the neck finish of the container has a nose-shaped projection the upper and lower flanks of which meet in a sharp edge, and has an annular groove below the projection. The bridges are formed in an inwardly facing groove above the projection and are radially spaced from the outer surface of the neck finish. The tamper-evident ring is swaged into close contact with the projection, is deformed into a channel on the neck finish below projection, and is closely engaged with the surface of the neck finish below the channel. Interference involving outward prying movement by a lever on the lower edge portion of the ring to disengage the ring from groove causes a pivoting action about the tip of projection leading to fracture of the bridges.

    Abstract: The invention provides an anti-glug fitting for co-operation with the neck portion of a container for liquids, the fitting comprising an outer body adapted to conform to the neck of the container, and formed with a shaped through bore extending from an inlet end to an outlet end and a guard member partially obturating the outlet; wherein the outlet opens from a chamber defined by the through bore and by opposed spaced apart faces of the guard member and a fixed or movable member, and by a plurality of apertures forming part of the through bore which allow fluid flow past the valve body. The total area defined by the apertures is equal to, or less than, the total area of the outlet, thereby to alleviate glugging by providing that air may pass into the neck of the container at a rate equal to, or greater than, the rate at which liquid flows out.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a container closure molded from plastics material and comprising a crown, an annular skirt depending from the crown and formed with a screw threaded on its internal surface and a tamper evident ring connected to the end of the skirt remote from the crown by a series of frangible bridges extending across an axial gap between the ring and the skirt, or by a band of the material with a circumferential line of weakening therein. The ring has spaced along its inner surface a plurality of radially inwardly projecting protrusions each having an abutment surface generally facing the crown, but having a slight inclination away from the crown in the radially inward direction, and an inwardly facing cam surface inclined away from the crown. The inwardly facing cam surface has a compound curve tapering downwardly from the crown and towards the screwing-on direction, thereby to assist capping.
