  • Patent number: 4403814
Abstract: The method of locking a shaft within a bearing so that they are concentrically positioned against rotational and axial relative movement, and an apparatus for practicing such method comprising a complete assembly such as a pillow block bearing which includes an axial extension on the inner race ring of the bearing of a lesser outside diameter than the outside diameter of the main body portion of such inner race ring, with slots spaced equally around the circumference of such extension cut axially inwardly from the outer edge to provide multiple segments therein. A continuous circular collar positioned over the extension includes two threadably mounted set screws spaced apart within an arc substantially 30.degree. to 60.degree. on the continuous circular collar, and in such position of the collar on the extension each set screw is over a segment and the segments are separated by an extension slot.

  • Patent number: 4356368
Abstract: An auxiliary switch assembly for mounting on and operation by a power contactor includes a molded plastic housing cover to be mounted on the contactor by screws which provides a space within the housing for two electrical switches, which for this assembly are standard snap-action switches, and space for a movable element mechanically connected to the actuator of the power contactor which moves within the confines of the housing cover to engage the plunger in each such switch.

  • Patent number: 4230917
Abstract: An electrical rocker switch of the type having a removable actuator key to prevent turning the switch "on" when the key is removed, such switch having a rockable carrier member for operating switching bridge structure, a rocker member mounted cooperatively with said carrier member in a switch casing and with each such two members being movable independently of the other about a common axis. The removable key couples the rocker member and carrier member so that all three are then operated together as a coupled structure by actuation of such key, said switch having contact means for two different circuits, with the key member when inserted into the carrier-rocker members in one direction accomplishing the operation of the contact means to close one of said two circuits through the switch, and with removal of the key member, rotation thereof through 180.degree.

  • Patent number: 4213513
Abstract: A control system for the ignition circuit and carburetor of an internal combustion engine wherein a hand throttle lever is operatively connected to both a spring-urged carburetor lever and to switch means for the ignition circuit to provide normal operation of the engine but principally to provide for the safety of the operator in the operation of such circuit if the throttle lever becomes jammed or frozen or otherwise maintained in a speeding position and the operator loses control of such system.

  • Patent number: 4130747
Abstract: A miniature snap action electrical switch has a member fixedly supported in the switch housing which serves both as a common terminal for the switch and a mount for the switch blade structure. The switch blade structure includes the switch blade and a pivotal cam, and the switch blade has an integral tongue between two arched legs connecting a bridging portion at one end and a contact portion at the other. The tongue mounts in a notch in one face of the combination member, and the pivotal cam has a cam edge which engages the combination member on its opposite face. The switch blade is connected with the pivotal cam at the end of such cam opposite to the cam edge and is tensioned when so assembled in a mounted free position for the switch.

  • Patent number: 4012086
Abstract: The inner race ring of a bearing is locked to a shaft mounted in the bearing by means of a plurality of set screws spaced circumferentially in an axial end portion of such race ring and each impinging on the shaft to raise a burr on the shaft at the nose of the set screw. So that any burr on the shaft will not interfere with the separation of the shaft and the bearing, a 360.degree. circumferentially extending relief bore is provided on the inside of the inner race ring where the set screws are threadably maintained which has dimensions such that any burr on the shaft is cleared by such relief bore when the shaft and bearing are separated for repair or replacement of the bearing or the shaft.

  • Patent number: 3969597
Abstract: A lockable electric grounding switch comprises a two-piece switch housing which has an upper conductive portion into which a hollow cylindrical insulating portion is inserted, with the two portions secured together. The upper conductive portion has a slot in it for accommodating a key, and cam surfaces are provided on the underside of the end of the conductive housing to cause the key to be cammed downwardly when it is rotated to push a resiliently biased metal contact out of engagement with a shoulder of the metal portion of the housing. This opens the circuit between a terminal mounted in the other end of the insulating portion of the housing. The contact and the terminal are normally electrically interconnected by a compression spring which biases the contact into engagement with the metal housing when the key is removed or is rotated to an "off" position.

  • Patent number: 3965316
Abstract: A low force switch assembly having a single pole, double throw switch action wherein a one-piece contactor having a frame with longitudinal side members, a contact portion, a blade portion, and a pair of auxiliary lever arms are positioned within the switch housing by locating the contact portion between first and second contact members mounted to the switch housing and by anchoring the blade portion and auxiliary lever arms to points on a common terminal positioned within the switch housing and extending outwardly therefrom. The common terminal includes a pair of fulcrum extensions extending inwardly within the housing intermediate the ends of the common terminal for engaging and anchoring the auxiliary lever arms. A switch operating plunger extends outwardly from the switch housing and is engageable with the one-piece contactor.

  • Patent number: 3931887
Abstract: Packaging structure for an assembly of items which are strung on a wire or cord, such as a stringer light assembly which includes a plurality of lamps connected at spaced points to conductors and a support and guard device for each lamp. The packaging structure includes a container having a base and folding portions connected thereto adapted to form sides and a top for the container. A liner is positioned on the base which has a wall of decagonal shape which serves as a form around which the conductors can be wrapped or wound. A slot is provided in each side of the wall for allowing the conductors to pass therethrough so that the lamps and the associated support and guard devices can be positioned on the base within the wall. A plurality of the walls have extensions or projections at the edges thereof which serve to retain the conductors therebetween.
