This additional information is later verified by a SIP server and used to enable advanced billing and fraud protection features for call transfers in a SIP telecommunications network.

Abstract: A Web-based call routing management workstation application which allows authorized customers to control toll free routing and monitor call center status. An architecture including one or more web servers located in a firewalled demilitarized zone (DMZ) as communications medium between the customer workstations at the customer sites and the enterprise back-end applications providing the call routing management services, provides a secure infrastructure for accessing the enterprise applications via the otherwise insecure public Internet. The present invention enables creation and management of call by call routing rules by a customer with a workstation having an Internet access and a supported Web browser. The customized rules may be tested and/or debugged via the Web-enabled workstation, using a debugger/tester which runs the routing rules under a simulated environment.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a network system of the present invention includes at least a first router and a second router coupled to an upstream link to permit data flow from the first router to the second router across the upstream link. The communication assistant may also establish a voice link with a hearing party. The communication assistant may then convert the voice message into an instant message and transmit the instant message to the hearing-impaired party. The communication assistant may also convert instant messages received from the hearing-impaired party into voice messages for the hearing party.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a system, method and software product for balancing resource services are always available to match the desired work to be done through the use of “sticky services.”. Sticky services are defined as services that you know you want to have available as resources and as such they need to be present in the environment of cooperative applications; it may be that you want these always present or it may be that you want them present whenever certain conditions occur (see NewWave policy service). The general assumption of distributed systems is to not count on the environment you want being present, or put another way assume failure will occur. Therefore distributed environments like Jini assume all services are transient and will be garbage collected when not in active use. For the inside out approach to work, a mechanism should exist that, when desired, counters the transit design assumptions.

Abstract: A method and system for providing quality of service in an IP telephony session between a calling party and a called party establishes a high quality of service ATM virtual circuit for the session between first and second devices, each of the devices having ATM capability and IP capability. The first and second devices provide bidirectional translation between IP media and ATM media. The system transports IP media for the session between the calling party and the first device, and between said called party and a second device. The virtual circuit transports ATM media for the session between the first and second devices. An intelligent control layer provides IP and ATM signaling to set up the session.
