Patents Assigned to McKay Australia Limited
  • Patent number: 5203502
Abstract: A rail fastening of the kind in which a rail, having a field edge and a gauge edge is fastened to a rail tie by a rail seat including a rail, a rail tie and a rail pad between the tie and the rail, a pair of rail clamp supports secured to the tie on either side of the rail and abutting the rail pad, and a rail clamp associated with each rail clamp support and each clamp having a portion secured in the clamp support and a portion bearing down on the rail flange. The rail pad electrically and dynamically insulates the rail tie from the rail and there is a rib provided on the field edge portion of the rail pad to reduce the intensity of the pressure on the pad under the field edge of the rail.

  • Patent number: 5173222
Abstract: A method for repairing eroded concrete rail ties. An abrasion resistant composition incorporating a curable binder is applied to the eroded rail seat and cured by the application of pressure and heat. A gas fired heating plate with a release surface is pressed onto the composition to force it into the eroded recess and cure it. The device incorporating the heating plate is clamped onto the rail clamp shoulders embedded in the concrete rail tie to enable pressure to be applied.

  • Patent number: 5165346
Abstract: A manually operable applicator for applying rail fasteners in a direction lateral of the rail. The applicator comprises lever arm 20 which is pivoted on axle 26 and at its lower end has a latch 21 for urging a rail clip onto a rail flange. The bracing mechanism 23 has two arms pivoted on either side of the lever 20 which hook over the rail head. The location pin 29 bears against the rail clip and is engaged by the latch 21 to urge the clip onto the rail flange.

  • Patent number: 5110046
Abstract: A rail seat resistant to abrasion of the concrete rail tie incorporates a thin metal plate between the rail tie and the elastomeric rail pad which insulates the rail from the rail tie. The plate may be bonded to the rail tie or a resilient gasket can be interposed between the rail tie and the plate.

  • Patent number: 5003888
Abstract: An applicator for applying two rail fasteners at right angle to a rail. The applicator incorporates a pair of applicator arms pivoted midway between their ends and having an hydraulic ram connected between their upper ends. This enables the abutment faces on the lower ends of the applicator arms to be moved in unison toward the rail fasteners or away from them. The applicator also incorporates a brake mechanism which contacts the wheel of the applicator which rides the rail. This brake mechanism is adjustable to adjust the height of the applicator arms above the rail tie so that when the applicator is stopped the applicator abutment faces are at the correct height.
