Abstract: A system comprising a multi-layer, flexible, multi-sensing and data processing device consisting of an assembly of sensors, microprocessors, and communication modules, arranged in articulated pieces linked mechanically, such that said pieces can move in relation to each other. The device comprises a multilayer thin-film composite of flexible sensors and solid-state pieces containing integrated circuits and discreet components. The mobility the pieces provides flexibility to the device, thus allowing to install it on top of, or inside of, the body of a solid structure. The device flexible architecture allows being installed or be part of the body of a structure of complex shape. It further discloses methods to diagnose and predict the integrity of a structure, methods for calculating inner pressure of a structure containing fluids, methods to determine the flow-rate of a fluid moving in a containing structure and methods to model the structure.
