Patent number: 8636834Abstract: The invention relates to a safe hydrogen-storing tank that is easy to manufacture and enables the quick kinetic absorption of hydrogen, which reduces the variations in volume and has a low cost in terms of material and energy. The invention has the aim of providing a tank for storing hydrogen, including a hydrogen inlet (21) and a hydrogen outlet (22) in fluid communication with at least one solid body (10-11) capable of the exothermal absorption and endothermal desorption of hydrogen, wherein said at least one solid body (10-11) is made of a compacted material containing light metal hydride and a heat-conducting matrix, and wherein said at least one solid body (10-11) is in heat-transfer relation with at least one heat recovery material (42) free from salt or molten-salt compounds and capable of absorbing the heat generated by the hydrogen absorption and of releasing said absorbed heat so as to provide heat for hydrogen desorption.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2009Date of Patent: January 28, 2014Assignees: Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, McPhy EnergyInventors: Daniel Fruchart, Michel Jehan, Patricia De Rango, Salvatore Miraglia, Philippe Marty, Albin Chaise, Sylvain Garrier, Gérard Bienvenu

Publication number: 20130111736Abstract: A material for storing hydrogen is prepared by a method including an extreme plastic deformation operation selected from cold-rolling, quick-forging and extrusion-bending performed on a metallic material selected from among a metal and an alloy containing said metal, or on a compound containing a metal material selected from among a metal and an alloy containing said metal and to which a hydride of said metal or a hydride of said alloy has been added. When the extreme plastic deformation operation is carried out on the metallic material, it is followed by an operation of adding, to the metal material, a hydride of said metal or a hydride of said alloy, as well as by a dispersing operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 11, 2011Publication date: May 9, 2013Applicants: CENTRE NATIONAL DE LA RECHERCHE SCIENTIFIQUE, UNIVERSITE DU QUEBEC A TROIS-RIVIERES, MCPHY ENERGYInventors: Daniel Fruchart, Salvatore Miraglia, Patricia De Rango, Nataliya Skryabina, Michel Jehan, Jacques Huot, Julien Lang, Sylvain Pedneault
