Abstract: A device and related method for use in defoaming and/or removing certain impurities from a fluid stream is disclosed. The device comprises a housing having an inlet and an outlet, and a filter media disposed between the inlet and outlet comprising a fat-absorbing, nonionic hydrophobic resin. A filter sock for retaining the filter media is disposed in the housing between the inlet and the outlet. The filter above described can be used to remove lipids and other materials from the fluid stream, or alternatively, can be treated with a fatty acid and used to defoam the fluid stream.
