Abstract: An adjustable bed includes a fixed frame, an articulating frame supported on the fixed frame, first and second leg assemblies, and first and second actuators. The leg assemblies are configured to raise and lower the fixed frame between a lowered position and a raised position. The actuators are disposed and fully maintained within an interior volume of the fixed frame. The first actuator is fixedly secured at a first end to the head end of the fixed frame and operably coupled to the first leg assembly at a second end. The second actuator is fixedly secured at a first end to the foot end of the fixed frame and operably coupled to the second leg assembly at a second end. The first and second actuators are configured to exert a pulling force to raise the fixed frame and to exert a pushing force to lower the fixed frame.

Abstract: A patient care bed including a caster locking mechanism having a foot movable between retracted and extended positions, a lock bar movable from an unlocked to a locked position, a release bar movable from an initial to a release position, and a lock and release assembly. The lock and release assembly includes a guide plate defining a slot, a rocker coupled to the lock bar and including a protrusion slidable within the slot, and a release member coupled to the release bar and including a protrusion slidable within the slot. Moving the lock bar to the locked position slides the protrusion of the rocker through the slot to extend the foot. Moving the release bar to the release position urges the protrusion of the release member through the and into contact with the protrusion of the rocker to urge the protrusion of the rocker back, thereby retracting the foot.

Abstract: A walking cane clamp is provided which includes a clip dimensioned and configured to releasably secure the walking cane clamp to a support member, the clip being attached to a cane fastener, the cane fastener including a body portion and a biasing member pivotally attached to the body portion, the body portion defining an opening and a receptacle dimensioned and configured to receive a portion of a cane shaft, the biasing member defining an open position and a closed position of the receptacle, the biasing member being pivotally biased toward the closed position in which a portion of the biasing member covers a portion of the opening sufficient to secure the cane shaft within the receptacle. Also provided is a system for securing a walking cane to a walker or a rollator which includes a walking cane clamp as described herein and a base for receiving the walking cane. Also provided is a walker or rollator which includes a walking cane clamp as described herein and an optional base for receiving a walking cane.

Abstract: A safety brake type rollator that will prevent the misuse of rollators by seated users by using a braking system that locks the rollator wheels when the user sits down on the rollator seat, and releases when the user stands up. The cables that run from the hand brakes of the rollator to under the rollator seat are stretched by the user sitting down on the rollator seat, so locking the wheels. According to a further embodiment, whenever a user sits on the seat the braking system pulls the hand brakes into the locked position, so engaging the wheel brake mechanisms. According to this further embodiment, the hand brakes must then be disengaged from the locked position when the user stands up from the seat for the rollator to be mobile.

Abstract: A commode chair is provided that includes a seat having a central hole and a frame on which the seat is mountable. The frame includes at least three leg connectors. The commode chair also includes at least three legs in which each of the legs is configured to be removably connected to a respective one of the leg connectors. The commode chair further includes at least three leg extenders in which each of the leg extenders is configured to be slideably connected to a respective one of the legs. In an embodiment, the frame and leg assemblies can be simply and easily assembled and disassembled. The components can be stacked with, and/or attached to, each other to reduce the space occupied by the disassembled commode chair, thereby lowering storage and transportation costs.

Abstract: A locking assembly is disclosed for use with a walker or a rollator having foldable side members. The locking assembly includes a locking pin movable between a first position in which the corresponding side member is held in a locked, unfolded state and a second position in which the side member is in an unlocked, folded state. A lock plate extends transversely to the longitudinal axis of the corresponding side member, and includes an aperture adapted to receive a locking end of the locking pin when the pin is in its first position. A lever is coupled to the locking pin such that when the lever is pivoted by upwardly applied pressure, the locking pin is moved from its first position to its second position to permit rotation of the corresponding side member to its folded state.

Abstract: A bath chair having elongated slots on opposite sides, legs secured to the seat, and a backrest mounted on two opposed L-shaped backrest support tubes, is provided with a pair of handrails secured to the seat by the horizontal segments of the backrest support tubes. Pairs of connecting tubes are mounted on opposite sides of the bottom face of the seat, each connecting tube having a cylindrical opening sized and disposed to receive respective horizontal segments of the backrest support tubes. The handrails are inserted through respective seat slots, each carrying a cylindrical member at its end disposed between and aligned with opposed connecting tubes. The horizontal segments of the backrest support tubes are inserted through the connecting tubes and the handrail cylindrical members therebetween so as to secure the handrail to the seat.
