  • Patent number: 5562722
Abstract: An electrical stimulation catheter system particularly suited for treating the epidural space of a patient, which includes a multiple electrode stimulation catheter, a stiffening element for the catheter and a device for securing an implanted catheter to the patent. A catheter according to the invention includes first and second flexible electrodes defined respectively by a portion of the catheter body and second flexible element. Preferably, leads for each electrode are secured to slideable rings around the proximal end of the catheter to prevent entanglement and confusion of the leads. A catheter securing device according to the invention includes a resilient member having a bore within which the catheter is secured. Holes for suturing or adhesive coating are provided to secure the device, which also may serve as an external electrode, to the patient.

  • Patent number: 5010892
Abstract: A body lumen measuring instrument for insertion into a body passageway such as a bronchial tube or the like in order to determine the interior lumen diameter and/or axial length of the passageway at a predetermined location. This instrument can also be used to aid selection of a radioisotope capsule of proper size to be properly positioned at a specific location for tumor treatment. The measuring instrument includes a flexible sleeve having a handle secured to one end. A cable is slidably positioned within the sleeve and secured at one end to a slide actuator within the handle and at the other end terminates in a probe adapted for determining body passageway size under endoscopic observation. A measurement scale is associated with an indicator on the slide actuator in order to display the passageway size.

  • Patent number: 4254180
Abstract: The disclosure is that of an invention directed to new compositions of matter comprising a mixture of a resin in particulate form and colloidal graphite; and the use of such mixture to form objects of predetermined sizes and shapes, the exposed surfaces of which are strip treated and coated with a cationic surface active agent to make them Heparin-receptive, after which the objects are Heparin-coated to make them thrombo-resistant and non-thrombogenic.

  • Patent number: 4172451
Abstract: An indwelling multi-contact plunge electrode to measure the electrical output from areas of the myocardium on an individual, sequential or combination composite basis. The electrode comprises an outer flexible tube containing a plurality of wire leads having their distal ends projecting angularly through the wall of the tube adjacent the distal end thereof and their proximal ends connected to an electrical plug. The distal end portion of the electrode is stiffened and bent at a substantial angle to the proximal portion and the void in the lumen of the tube not occupied by the wire leads is filled with silicone rubber.
