Abstract: A method of calibrating an ultrasound imaging system including: capturing ultrasound image data including a first tissue and a second tissue through which ultrasound waves travel at different speeds, the ultrasound image data captured based on a predetermined single speed of ultrasound waves through both the first tissue and the second tissue being the same; segmenting the first tissue and the second tissue in a sonogram based on the image data; identifying a first depth of the first tissue and a second depth of the second tissue based on the sonogram; identifying an actual first speed of ultrasound waves through the first tissue and an actual second speed of ultrasound waves through the second tissue; and generating a calibrated image that accounts for ultrasound waves through the first tissue at the first actual speed that is different than the second actual speed of the ultrasound waves through the second tissue.

Abstract: A surgical navigation and planning system is disclosed. The system may include at least one processor, and a storage medium storing programming instructions. The programming instructions may cause the processor to receive patient-specific vertebrae information include at least one image which may be acquired by an X-ray. The system may perform segmentation of objects in the at least one image and automatically select a set of objects for planning an optimal trajectory to a location proximal the vertebrae level. The system may determine boundary dimensions of an interbody implant, a first entry incision location and a first path for the interbody implant from the first entry incision location to the location proximal the vertebrae level. The system may calculate a plurality of clearance distances between the boundary dimensions and the set of objects. The set of objects may include the psoas muscle, Aorta, and/or Vena Cava.

Abstract: A method and system is disclosed for acquiring image data of a subject. The image data can be collected with an imaging system with at least two different power characteristics. A volumetric model of multiple phases can be reconstructed using dynamic or enhanced reconstruction techniques.
Abstract: A patient tracking device for insertion into a body cavity includes a flexible conformable sensor housing having a sensor cavity therein. The housing conforms to the body cavity when inserted therein. A sensor is disposed within the housing.
Abstract: Systems and methods for protecting non-target tissue from damage during a medical procedure for disrupting target tissue via heat application are disclosed. Data associated with the target tissue to be disrupted may be received. Based on the received data, one or more non-target objects of tissue that may be affected by the applied heat are identified. Both a temperature threshold and thermal dose threshold for each of the one or more non-target objects may be generated. Both the temperature and the thermal dose of each of the one or more non-target objects may be evaluated during performance of the medical procedure. A response may be generated when either the evaluated temperature of any of the one or more non-target objects reaches the corresponding temperature threshold or the thermal dose of any of the one or more non-target objects reaches the corresponding thermal dose threshold.
Abstract: A viewing system or imaging system is disclosed that includes optical pieces for viewing a subject. The viewing system may include features that allow an augmented mixed view through eyepieces of the viewing system. The mixed view may include graphical representations that are acquired or determined with information separate from the viewing system.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for operating an imaging system. The imaging system may move or be moved to acquire image data of a subject at different positions relative to the subject. The image data may, thereafter, be combined to form a single image.
Abstract: Disclosed is a system for imaging a system. The system may be operated to acquire image data of a subject in one or more manners. The image data acquired may be used to various purposes, such as generating an image for display, navigating a procedure, or other appropriate procedures.
Abstract: Systems and methods used to perform non-contact patient registration of images for surgical navigation are disclosed. In some embodiments, the systems include a 3-D scanning device to capture spatial data of a region of interest of a patient and a reference frame. A digital mesh model is generated from the spatial data. A reference frame model is registered with the digital mesh model. Anatomical features of the digital mesh model and a patient registration model are utilized to register the digital mesh model with the patient registration model. A position of a surgical instrument is tracked relative to the reference frame and the patient registration model.

Abstract: A system and a method are disclosed that allow for generation of a model or reconstruction of a model of a subject based upon acquired image data. The image data can be acquired in a substantially mobile system that can be moved relative to a subject to allow for image acquisition from a plurality of orientations relative to the subject. The plurality of orientations can include a first and final orientation and a predetermined path along which an image data collector or detector can move to acquire an appropriate image data set to allow for the model of construction.
Abstract: An image segmentation system and display is disclosed. The system may be operated or configured to generate a segmentation of a member from an image. The image and/or the segmentation may be displayed for viewing by a user.
