  • Patent number: 5596493
Abstract: POS data are entered at step S1. The input POS data are arranged and those data for a day on which there was no stock at the store opening time and for a day on which the goods are out of stock at the store closure time are discarded to formulate data sets of the daily sale amounts for individual goods. At step S3, non-routine goods are discarded. At step S4, basic statistic values of the goods, such as mean value, standard deviation, maximum value, minimum value, skewness value, kurtosis value, Geary value etc. of the daily sale amounts of the goods are calculated. At step S5, the goods are classified into one of preset plural types, such as Poisson type, normal type, causal type and other type. Besides, an optimum amount for restocking order is found on the basis of the class types.

  • Patent number: 5334704
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel glycoprotein derived from Ganoderma mycelia. The glycoprotein is free of human hemagglutination ability, and has immunosuppressive activities and a molecular weight of 16,000-18,000 as measured by SDS gel electrophoresis or 12,000-16,000 as measured by tricin-SDS gel electrophoresis. The glycoprotein is produced by culturing Ganoderma mycelia, extracting the resultant Ganoderma mycelia with an aqueous solvent, and then purifying the resultant extract. An immunosuppressive agent containing an effective amount of the glycoprotein is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5269174
Abstract: This invention presents a method and an apparatus for examining and determining the viscosity of a liquid sealed in a container by applying a centrifugal force to the container, detecting a change in the surface form of said liquid by the means of a sensor, and measuring either a lapse of time from the application of centrifugal force to the time when the output voltage of the sensor reaches a predetermined level or a voltage output of the sensor upon a predetermined lapse of time from the application of a centrifugal force, thereby examining and determining the viscosity of the liquid to find out whether there is any quality change in the liquid without destroying the container.

  • Patent number: 5261070
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus to determine whether a user is authorized to utilize a data communication network, and more particularly a terminal machine in the network. Data having a predetermined number of bits are read out from a relatively large random number memory, containing previously stored data, by using key data to address said bits at the terminal machine. The addressed data are used as new key data and data each having a predetermined number of bits are repeatedly read from the data in the random number memory to form identification data on the basis of the old and new key data in each cycle. In such manner, there are formed identification data unequivocally determined in accordance with the key data and having high security or confidentiality.

  • Patent number: 5075226
Abstract: A method for fermenting diacetyl and acetoin with a lactic acid bacterium by adding one or more additives selected from ferroporphyrin, heme protein, an animal tissue containing ferroporphyrin and blood and metal salts to a culture substrate containing a sugar source which a lactic acid bacterium can use, inoculating the lactic acid bacterium into the substrate and then aerobically culturing the bacterium with shaking or under aeration. A culture solution containing high concentrations of diacetyl and acetoin obtained by the present invention or its diacetyl concentrate is used to increase or improve the flavor of foods such as oils and fats, e.g., butter, margarine, cheeses, shortening, etc., confectionery, creams and the like.

  • Patent number: 5056124
Abstract: Method and apparatus for enabling fluid material contained in a package to be examined in a non-destructive manner to see whether there is any unacceptable alteration in the material. This examination is accomplished by shaking the package so that the package and its contents vibrate at the natural resonance frequency thereof, exposing the package to an irradiation of ultra-soft X-ray beams while the package is vibrating at the resonant frequency, either immediately after the package contents begin to be agitated by shaking or immediately after the vibration is stopped and it ceases to be agitated, detecting the strength of X-rays transmitted through the package and its contents, coverting the transmitted X-rays to a corresponding analog signal, and determining any alteration by comparing the analog signal against the refernece signal previously obtained in the same manner as described above for a like package with unaltered contents.

  • Patent number: 4976678
Abstract: A centrifugal separator which enables extraction of particles as concentrated liquid of a uniform concentration under a low pressure without damaging to the particles and is particularly suitable for extraction of weak cells such as animal cells. The centrifugal separator includes a plurality of particle collecting chambers (104: 104a) partially defined by an inner wall face (121) of a rotor (103) the diameter of which increases substantially continuously and suddenly comparing with the diameter of another adjacent portion for the inner wall face of the rotor. Particles centrifugally separated from liquid in a separating chamber (109) in the rotor are introduced into the particle collecting chambers in which they are accelerated suddenly to form soil suspension having an increased fluidity. The soil suspension is then introduced into horizontally extending deriving pipes (105: 105a: 105b: 105c: 105d: 105e) of a small sectional area and then extracted to the outside by way of an extracting pipe (118).

  • Patent number: 4673583
Abstract: A method of producing an aseptic calcium-enriched soy bean curd is disclosed. The method includes the steps of adding a calcium hydroxide-sucrose complex as coagulant to the soy bean milk, sterilizing the resulting mixture by heating, adjusting the pH value of the sterilized product to weakly acidic, charging the sterilized product into a container under an aseptic condition and sealing the opening of the container, and coagulating the calcium hydroxide-sucrose complex as coagulant to the soy bean milk by heating. When the calcium hydroxide-sucrose complex used as coagulant is insufficient to provide the required extent of calcium enrichment, calcium lactate may be added in an aseptic atmosphere after the sterilization process as at the time of pH adjustment.
