Abstract: A magnetic valve which is closed when current is absent includes an electromagnet driver having a U-shaped magnetizable yoke carrying a winding; a pivotally attached armature including a soft magnetic material; a permanent magnet disposed on the armature; and a pole plate disposed between the permanent magnet and a part of the yoke which carries the winding. The yoke part and the pole plate define a separating plane therebetween. The mangetic valve further has a valve cone disposed on the armature below the separating plane.

Abstract: An improved electrical appliance includes a housing defining an inner space, a current supply cable having a plurality of conductors which extends into the housing, first contact elements constituting appliance terminals which are supported in the housing and an electrical connecting device accommodated in the inner space which electrically connects the current supply cable with the first contact elements. The electrical connecting device is formed of a solid insulating body having an end face, a plurality of second contact elements, constituting cable terminals, received in the solid insulating body and having end portions projecting outwardly from the end face of the body and an insulating terminal plate fixed in the inner space of the housing and carrying the first contact elements. The conductors of the supply cable are electrically connected to respective second contact elements. The first contact elements are in electrical contact with respective end portions of second contact elements.

Abstract: Coffee or tea maker has an intermediate vessel for holding heated water, a siphon for periodically emptying the intermediate vessel into a coffee or tea filter, a ventilation pipe for venting the intermediate vessel, and a water inlet for filling said intermediate vessel with heated water. The intermediate vessel is closed except for the siphon, the ventilation pipe, and the inlet pipe. There is a siphon inlet on an upper part of the siphon and which extends upwardly further than a lower delimiting plane on a lower portion of a downwardly open chamber located within the intermediate vessel.

Abstract: Apparatus for preparing hot beverages in a microwave oven has a lower carafe for receiving the finished brewed hot beverage and an upper reservoir having a bottom and retaining fresh water therein. The reservoir may be placed on the carafe and has a shut-off member disposed inside. The shut-off member has an inlet in the interior of the reservoir and an outlet extending through the bottom of the reservoir, and the shut-off member is a pipe which functions as a siphon or as an overflow. The reservoir is substantially air tight, and a vent is in the carafe for exhausting fluid from and into the carafe. Alternatively, the reservoir is fluidly connected to the carafe and the carafe has a one-way valve for only exhausting fluid from the carafe.

Abstract: A coffee or tea maker has a fresh water container with an outlet opening into a flowthrough heater. There is a water filter for filtering the water used for brewing the coffee or tea. A recess is formed in the fresh water container that is configured to receive the water filter. The water filter is replaceable, and can be inserted into the recess from the upper side of the fresh water container.

Abstract: An improved apparatus for the production of aromatic extracts from coffee or tea is of the type having a filter vessel and a collecting container, wherein the filter vessel has a plurality of detent lugs which are received within detent recesses disposed in an upper rim portion of the collecting container for detachable engagement therewith. This construction results in the secure connection of the filter vessel atop the collecting container, for preventing accidental detachment of the filter vessel while permitting intentional detachment of the filter vessel by proper manipulation of a handle portion of the filter vessel to disengage the detent lugs.

Abstract: A display carton for merchandise in individual packages has a tear strip adjacent the cover of the carton. The carton includes a front wall with a removal opening which extends up to the tear strip, and a side wall with a removable panel can easily be removed from the carton, exposing the packaged merchandised so that the price can be marked. The marked merchandise can then be placed on a shelf for sale without removing it from the carton.

The heater assembly comprises at least two tubular continuous flow electric heaters each being bent into a U-shaped configuration. The heaters are arranged in a generally horizontally juxtaposed mutually nested relationship and each has a metal heater tube containing an electric heating element, a metal water pipe extending adjacent the metal heater tube parallel therewith and a heat conducting flat web connecting the heater tube with the water pipe for transferring heat from the heater tube to the water pipe. There is further provided a tubular connector coupling the water pipes of the heater assemblies to one another.
