Patents Assigned to Melles Griot, San Marcos Company
  • Patent number: 4873693
Abstract: A laser comprises an interaction region formed by a wall surface of a capillary discharge tube which has been roughened along a continuous length thereof. This roughened surface suppresses and substantially eliminates diffraction rings in lasers.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 30, 1988
Date of Patent: October 10, 1989
Assignee: Melles Griot San Marcos Company

  • Patent number: 4649545
Abstract: A compact, extended life, gas laser comprises a capillary tube with a transition portion having a reduced wall thickness. The laser includes a cathode which is cylindrical in a rearward cathode region and hemispherical in a forward cathode region. The configuration of the capillary tube and the cathode cooperate to inhibit short circuiting of the bore to cathode discharge path and thereby extend the life of the laser.
