Patent number: 10751162Abstract: A mammary implant and method of making are provided herein. The implant includes an outer shell configured to retain fluid therein, an injection element coupled to the outer shell and adapted to receive therethrough an injection device for injecting fluid into the outer shell, and an injection marker zone made of a material having ultrasonically detectable markers incorporated therein. The markers are a plurality of microcavities that are located relative to the injection element so that, when ultrasonically detected, such detection indicates a location of the injection element.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2017Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: MENTOR WORLDWIDE LLCInventors: Krasimira Hristov, Leo B. Patent number: 10751165Abstract: An adjustable implant is disclosed herein. The adjustable implant may comprise a shell including membrane and a base and having a first diameter in a plane parallel to the base. A band may be disposed within the shell. The band may have a first end and a second end connected to a spool. The band may be in a round (e.g., elliptical) configuration having a second diameter in the plane that is less than the first diameter. By wrapping the band onto the spool, the diameter of the band may be decreased and the height of the implant may be increased. By unwrapping the band from the spool, the diameter of the band may be increased and the height of the implant may be decreased.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2017Date of Patent: August 25, 2020Assignee: MENTOR WORLDWIDE LLCInventors: Marc Feinberg, James Fleming

Patent number: 10653517Abstract: Various embodiments of an adjustable implant are disclosed herein. The adjustable implant comprises a hydraulic mechanism disposed within the shell, which includes a first component and a second component that is moveable with respect to the first component, and a band with a first and second end disposed within the shell in a round (e.g., elliptical) configuration having a second diameter in the plane that is less than the first diameter. In some embodiments, the first end of the band may be connected to the first component and the second end of the band may be connected to the second component. In some embodiments, the mechanism may include a fluid and a pump that has a first actuator comprising a first chamber and a second actuator comprising a second chamber. Depressing the first actuator causes the first component to move in a first direction, which reduces the diameter of the band and increases the height of the implant.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2017Date of Patent: May 19, 2020Assignee: MENTOR WORLDWIDE LLCInventors: Marc Feinberg, James Fleming

Patent number: 8821574Abstract: A valve assembly for an implant has an inner shell, a self-sealing material disposed within the inner shell, and an insertion pathway extending through the self-sealing material. At least one gap is formed in the self-sealing material that intersects with the insertion pathway to define a proximal pathway section and a distal pathway section. A filling tube is passed through the valve assembly for filling the outer shell of the implant with a fluid. After the implant is filled, the filling tube is removed. As the filling tube is removed, if the self-sealing material within the distal section of the pathway is unable to self-seal before the fluid reaches its proximal end, the fluid is diverted into the gap. The time that elapses before the gap is completely filled by the fluid provides sufficient time for the self-sealing material within the proximal section of the pathway to self-seal.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2012Date of Patent: September 2, 2014Assignee: Mentor Worldwide LLCInventor: Amir Davodian
