  • Patent number: 9341395
Abstract: A room air conditioner with a liquid-to-air heat exchanging device for the exchange of heat between a liquid and air has a first flow channel for the air and a second flow channel for the liquid, and at least one Peltier element. The heat exchanging device is subdivided into a first stage in which a heat exchange occurs in a passive manner between the liquid and air, and a subsequent second stage in which heat is pumped from the liquid to the air or from the air to the liquid by supplying an electrical current to the at least one Peltier element.

  • Publication number: 20140216710
Abstract: A method for operating a liquid-to-air heat exchanger device comprises: determining a dew point temperature of ambient air; determining whether the dew point temperature is higher than a temperature of the liquid, and as long as this is the case operating the heat exchanger device in a pulsed operation mode according to: allowing the liquid to flow through a first heat exchanger stage during a predetermined period of time; preventing that the liquid flows through the first heat exchanger stage, monitoring the temperature of the air at the exit of the first heat exchanger stage, said temperature indicating a first increase, remaining awhile constant and then showing a second increase; detecting the second increase and terminating the preventing that liquid flows through the first heat exchanger stage once the second increase was detected.

  • Publication number: 20110133349
Abstract: A device for dehumidifying an air stream includes at least one first module including at least one Peltier element and at least one second module including at least one Peltier element. The entirety of the first module forms a first zone for cooling the air stream. The entirety of the second module forms a second zone for dehumidifying the air stream. The entirety of the first and the second modules forms an air channel for the air stream. A water discharge channel is disposed below the entirety of the second module and receives water accumulating during the dehumidifying of the air stream in the second zone. At least one sensor for measuring a temperature and/or a moisture of the air stream provides at least one output signal. A control unit including at least one controller controls the Peltier elements based on the at least one output signal of the at least one sensor.

  • Publication number: 20100018393
Abstract: A humidity exchanger for exchanging humidity between a first air stream and a second air stream contains a first cavity and a second cavity, which are separated by a structure permeable to water vapor, the first cavity configured to have the first air stream flow through it and a second cavity configured to have the second air stream flow through it. The humidity exchanger also contains a cleaning system having a cleaning module, which provides a liquid, vaporized, or gaseous cleaning fluid to clean the first cavity and/or the second cavity using the cleaning fluid. The cleaning may be supported using shockwaves, soundwaves, and/or ultrasound waves.

  • Patent number: 7273516
Abstract: A plate heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first air stream and a second air stream includes a plurality of plates limiting first and second exchange chambers which are serially arranged in a transversal direction with respect to the plates. A first air stream of outside air passes through the first exchange chambers, a second air stream originating from ventilated rooms passes through the second exchange chambers. The heat exchanger further includes an ionization device for ionizing particles entrained in the first air stream so that the particles deposit at conductive plates of the first exchange spaces, a water distribution system for periodically discharging water into the first exchange spaces for cleaning the plates of the heat exchanger from deposited particles, and a water collection device for discharging collected water.

  • Publication number: 20060191413
Abstract: The invention relates to a plate heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first air stream (11, 12) and a second air stream (13, 14) comprising a plurality of plates (1) limiting exchange chambers which are serially arranged in a transversal direction with respect to said plates (1). The first air stream passes through one part of the exchange chambers (11, 12), the second air stream passes through the other exchange chambers (13, 14), preferably in an opposite direction. The second air stream consists of the air (13) removed from ventilated premises. A water distribution system (20, 21) is used for supplying water to the exchange chambers of the second air stream (13, 14) in such a way that the removed air is cooled by contact and evaporation, thereby lowering the external air temperature.
