Abstract: A medical and/or clinical report includes one or more links to various external (and/or internal) data sources and/or systems that include information relevant to the medical report. In an embodiment, a medical report may be in a PDF format and include links to images associated with the exam, information regarding the patient, a scheduling application useful to schedule additional procedures for the patient, and/or any other information associated with the patient or exam. The medical report, including various links, may be generated based on information received from external medical data systems. For example, a medical report from an external system may be updated to include various links to systems and sources of data related to the medical report, as described herein.

Abstract: Database systems and techniques are disclosed for accessing data stores of digital medical images, processing the digital images, and displaying the digital images to efficiently provide information in an interactive user interface. The disclosure may advantageously provide efficient and rapid dynamic interaction with digital images accessed from one or more databases to enable user detection of differences between related digital images. Interactive user interfaces may be dynamically updated to provide rapid comparison of digital images. Further, digital images from multiple data sources may be automatically sorted by the system according to attributes associated with the images and rules and/or preferences of the user. In an embodiment the user may select a digital image from a first data source, and the system automatically determines and displays one or more comparison images from other image data sources.

Abstract: A smart placement module determines components of received medical data, such as medical reports and image montages, to forward to one or more secondary location, such as an EMR system, based on smart placement rules that are established by a user that receives the medical data, such as a referring doctor. Thus, the smart placement module decreases or removes the need for the receiving user to manually select and transfer certain medical data for storage at the EMR system. Accordingly, the receiving user, and other authorized EMR system users, may have prompt access to the medical data via their respective connections to the EMR system. In one embodiment, the smart placement module transmits a patient identification file that is usable by the receiving EMR system to allow the EMR system to associate received medical data with other data regarding a respective patient.

Abstract: A system and method for transmitting medical data. In one embodiment, a computer system receives filter criteria from a user of a first computer. Furthermore, the computer system may receive schedule information defining a schedule for checking for medical data. Depending on the embodiment, either the computer system or a remote server periodically selects, based upon the received schedule, medical data satisfying the received user-specific rules. The selected medical data is then transmitted to the computer system.

Abstract: For certain medical images, it is important and/or required that a user view all of a medical image at full resolution so that minute, but important, indicia in the medical image are not missed. A computing systems monitor the portions of the medical image that are displayed on the display device, notates those portions that have been displayed at full resolution (or other user-defined display parameters), and provides the user with information indicating portions that have not been viewed at full resolution and/or provides information indicating for which images of a multiple image examination full pixel display has been accomplished. The process reduces the possibility of missing an abnormality in a medical image due to the viewer not viewing a portion of the image at full resolution or using other user defined display parameters.

Abstract: Navigating user-interfaces of medical image viewing software using pressure-sensitive displays can increase productivity of the viewer. In certain embodiments, a menu having a number of icons can be provided on a display device such that the icons are arranged around an initial area that is touched by a user's finger or stylus, for example. Due to the icons being arranged around the initial cursor position, any one of the icons from the menu can be chosen with relatively small finger movement and/or changes in pressure applied by the finger.

In some embodiments, the systems and methods discussed herein allow users, such as radiologists, to efficiently interact with a wide variety of computerized advanced processing (“CAP”) techniques using computing devices ranging from picture archiving and communication system (“PACS”) workstations to handheld devices such as smartphone and tablets. Furthermore, the systems and methods may, in various embodiments, automatically manage how data associated with these CAP techniques (for example, results of application of one or more computerized advanced processing techniques) are used, such as how data associated with the computerized analyzes is reported, whether comparisons to prior abnormalities should be automatically initiated, whether the radiologist should be alerted of important findings, and the like.

One of the methods includes a user interface that displays, in a first portion of the user interface, one or more medical images associated with a patient. Widgets selected from a multitude of widgets are displayed in a second portion of the user interface, with the selection being based on a context associated with the user interface. User input associated with each interaction with the displayed widgets are responded to, and the first portion or second portion are updated in response to the received user input.

The system may then provide the request to the appropriate experts, and receive opinions back from the experts in response to the request. The opinions may then be provided back to the person that submitted the request. The request may include various characteristics and/or criteria that may be matched to, or satisfied by, other characteristics or criteria associated with the experts. The system may include aspects whereby requests and/or opinions may be anonymized and/or combined.

Abstract: After selecting two or more image series for comparison, images of the image series are interleaved so that they are alternatively displayed in a comparison pane on a display device. In one embodiment, after one or more image series are selected for comparison, an interleaved image series is created containing each of the images of the one or more selected image series, or, alternatively, the interleaved image series comprises links to the images arranged in the interleaved pattern. If differences exist in the images of the multiple image series, these differences may be more easily detectable as the display device cycles between the images. Comparison of images in an interleaved image series may be more advantageous if the images of each selected image series are of a common anatomical area, common image size, and the images are in the same order.

Abstract: Provided herein are various systems and methods for monitoring how users interact with medical imaging exams to automatically determine the view order and importance of various series within medical imaging exams as a function of a particular user, exam type, clinical information, and/or other characteristic of medical data.
