Patents Assigned to Merit Plastics, Inc.
  • Patent number: 4257192
Abstract: There is disclosed herein an automotive window regulator and drive mechanism which includes a rotatable flexible drive shaft to transmit rotational forces from the regulator arm to a worm gear supported on a lower edge of the window. The worm gear engages a rack secured to a portion of the vehicle so as to vary the position of the window. In one embodiment, both electric motor drive and manual crank drive means are provided either of which may be selectively engaged to drive the rotatable flexible shaft. The regulator end of the flexible drive shaft may be supported in meshing engagement with a portion of the regulator drive gear by means of a pinion pivot arm which arm includes indexing gears to enable the flexible cable to track the worm gear thereby reducing the flexing of the flexible drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4170151
Abstract: A unit for remotely operating an element to different positions such as start, fast, slow and stop for a driving application such as the one herein illustrated for the engine of a lawn mower. The unit is made of plastic material being molded in two parts with a recess in the side of one part which is adapted to receive a tube forming a handle. A bolt passes through a hole in the part and through the tube to which it is securely retained when a lock nut and bolt is tightened. The unit has a slot between the two parts in which a lever is movable to advance and retract one or more control wires which operate the carburetor, brake or other element of the lawn mower.

  • Patent number: 4017961
Abstract: A holder for supporting a rod for rotation or longitudinal movement is molded from a plastic material. The holder is T-shaped having a central elongated portion through which the rod extends and transverse wings with apertures therethrough by which the holder is supported on a member. The cavity in the mold has a rod extending therethrough with a ring of elastomeric material thereon about which the plastic material is injected to mold the holder as a unit element with the elastomeric ring retained therein when the supporting rod is pulled therefrom. It is only necessary to insert the operating rod within the holder through the elastomeric ring which will be compressed so that it will apply a predetermined drag on the rod to restrict its longitudinal and rotational movement.

  • Patent number: 4006922
Abstract: A thin plastic tube has at the end a continuous or interrupted inclined plane means which collapses the plastic tube end section over a nipple or another tube end. The plastic tube end section is inserted over the nipple or other tube end to be sealed thereby with a locking ring drawn over the inclined plane means. The locking ring is drawn over the inclined plane surfaces to uniformly collapse the tube end section into engagement with the nipple or other tube end with a sealing force and with the locking sleeve in frictional locked engagement therewith.

  • Patent number: 3997195
Abstract: A thin plastic tube or tube connector has at one end section a continuous or interrupted inclined plane means which collapses the plastic tube end section over a nipple or the end of another tube. The plastic tube end section is inserted over the nipple or other tube end to be sealed therewithin by the end wall engaging an O-ring within the end section and held in position by a locking ring drawn over the inclined plane means. The locking ring is drawn over the inclined plane surfaces to uniformly collapse the tube end section into engagement with the nipple or other tube end with a sealing force and with the locking sleeve in frictional locked engagement therewith.
