Patent number: 6168305Abstract: System for controlling the discharge rate of a material feeder. A weight scale connected to the material is sampled and the samples input to a digital processor. The digital processor determines for consecutive time intervals during discharge of said material, a weight loss over the time interval. The weight loss for the interval is compared with a desired weight loss which is calculated from a desired setpoint material discharge rate obtained only when the weight loss is constant and stable. The resulting error is averaged with subsequent errors to form a control signal for the material feeder. The calculation of errors over each subsequent interval increases the resolution of the control signal, increasing the ability to control discharge rates to compensate for changes in material density which otherwise affect discharge rates.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1998Date of Patent: January 2, 2001Assignee: Merrick Industries, Inc.Inventor: Lars T. Marmsater

Patent number: 4917523Abstract: A pocket size punch mechanism is provided to punch openings in cards or card-like objects, the punched openings have a cross-sectional configuration and spacing matching the configuration and spacing of a pair of rails in a commonly available card file. Also shown is mounting structure for adapting cards and card-like objects for mounting in the same type of two rail card file. A plurality of mounting members of a stiff stock material are fabricated on a sheet, the mounting members being individually removable from the sheet as needed to form a member having openings conforming to the configuration of the card file rails. A portion of the mounting member has adhesive thereon to secure to the back of the item to be mounted.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1988Date of Patent: April 17, 1990Assignee: Merrick Industries, Inc.Inventors: Robert G. Merrick, John P. Merrick

Patent number: 4627546Abstract: A handle for use in carrying and pouring from a plastic bottle comprises a single two-ended piece of flat flexible material possessing at one end means for attachment to a bottle neck and at the other end means for attachment to the bottle bottom. Between the two ends of material is formed a hand hold. The handle attaches to the bottle neck by use of two partially overlapping, nonconcentric openings the first of which slips over the bottle neck and collar and the second of which then snaps around the neck when the handle is tugged. The bottom employs a pair of integral stabilizing tabs extending inwardly of a bottle encompassing ring which upon insertion over the top of the bottle and movement downwardly over the bottle periphery extend both upwardly or one upwardly and one downwardly with respect to the ring, thus firmly gripping a lower part of the bottle.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 1984Date of Patent: December 9, 1986Assignee: Merrick IndustriesInventor: Jose R.
