  • Patent number: 10598756
Abstract: A system for determining a source location of a firearm discharge includes a plurality of monitoring stations and a central processing system. Each of the monitoring stations determines a time value of identification of a firearm discharge signature and transmits the time value. The central processing system 1) receives the time value from each of the monitoring stations; 2) determines, based on the time values, a geographic area that includes the source location of the firearm discharge; 3) determines a time of acoustic propagation from each of a plurality of randomly selected locations within the geographic area to each of the monitoring stations; 4) identifies the source location of the firearm discharge as the selected location for which difference in the time of acoustic propagation to each of the monitoring stations is closest to difference in the time values received from each of the monitoring stations.

  • Patent number: 8970701
Abstract: A system and method for detecting a traffic signal violation. In one embodiment a system includes a video image capture device, an image rectifier, and a vehicle position predictor. The image rectifier is configured to provide a rectified image by applying a rectification function an image captured by the video image capture device. The vehicle position predictor is configured to provide a prediction, based on the rectified image, of whether a vehicle approaching an intersection will enter the intersection.

  • Patent number: 8692996
Abstract: A system and method for determining a state of a traffic signal. In one embodiment, a traffic signal state detector includes a lens, a color sensor, and a processor. The color sensor is configured to identify a plurality of colors of light directed to the color sensor by the lens, and a field of view of the color sensor is restricted based on dimensions of a traffic signal. The processor is coupled to the color sensor. The processor is configured to determine a color of light emitted by the traffic signal based on the colors of light identified by the color sensor.

  • Patent number: 4211893
Abstract: An electronic amplifying apparatus intended for electric music instruments (primarily guitar), with switchable circuitry offering an improved, specialized circuit for the enhancement of solo playing in addition to customary simple amplification. In the lead (or solo) mode of operation, the circuit will synthesize particular sustain and distortion characteristics and add them to the tone of the instrument (guitar, electric piano, microphone, etc.) to produce a more flexible and expressive sound for solo playing than the sound of the instrument normally amplified. Switching and control circuitry enable the musician to return to a conventional amplified tone which would be preferred for rhythm (or chordal) playing.
