  • Patent number: 5774220
Abstract: In a process for continuous contactless measurement of profiles, in particular profiles moving in the axial direction, by means of which internal contours of a profile can also be measured, where they can be reached by a measurement beam and permit reflection onto a receiver, probes, by means of which a surface segment of an object is continuously scanned in accordance with the triangulation principle by means of a laser light measurement beam in a particular measurement region of the respective probe sequentially or by points one after the other and with a variable and pre-settable step size or resolution within the measurement region, and using the beam reflected by the object surface and received by a fixed receiver on the basis of the geometrical relationships the spacing of each measured point from the probe is determined in the form of local measured data, are arranged in a mounting all around the profile and spaced therefrom and are arranged in predetermined angular positions with respect to one anothe

  • Patent number: 5402229
Abstract: The invention concerns a signal frequency processing device for measuring the frequency of an input signal with the aid of very simple counters. The input signal to be measured is divided into two, four or even more partial signals, each partial signal having a frequency which is half, a fourth or an even higher fraction of the input signal's frequency. In this way rather slow, cheap and small counting devices can be used for counting fractions of the input signal which are later accumulated again to end up with a frequency which is identical with the frequency of the input signal. The input signal is thus retrieved.

  • Patent number: 5339196
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical device which serves in particular for measuring the speed of a moved surface with the aid of a measuring beam from a laser. The measuring beam is split into two parts, directed through prisms to converge towards the moved surface and received again frequency-shifted by the Doppler effect. For each part beam there is a single prism body through which each part beam is guided outwards to intensify splitting and is deflected to bring about convergence. Each prism is preferably secured to a plane-parallel glass plate so that very good, lasting adjustment is possible.

  • Patent number: 5264908
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for measuring the speed or length of a moved surface, where a measuring light beam from a laser is used. The laser light beam reflected from the surface to be measured is frequency-shifted by the Doppler effect so that the overlaying of the outgoing light beam and the incoming one results in a beat which is a measure of the speed of the surface. Before the speed can be determined, digital signals occurring in large numbers must be processed in an evaluation system. The evaluation system is characterized in that there is downstream of a counter intended for detecting the incoming signals and having a high counting speed an intermediate store which is connected to an adding mechanism for pulse-wise monitoring of the counter contents. A control mechanism handles coordination of the counter, the intermediate store and the adding mechanism, upstream of which is a pulse generator.

  • Patent number: 5191386
Abstract: The invention concerns a signal frequency processing device for measuring the frequency of an input signal, wherein the frequency is so much processed that it can be used for producing a TTL-compatible signal. The input signal is mixed with the frequency of a frequency generator and filtered by a band pass filter having a predetermined centre frequency. The resulting signal is mixed again with the oscillator signal of the frequency generator to provide a second intermediate signal. When this second intermediate signal has been passed through a second band pass filter an output signal is obtained which directly corresponds to the input frequency. Unlike in prior art, the control voltage of the frequency generator is not measured and evaluated as an output quantity, but instead the second intermediate frequency obtained in the second mixer.
