  • Patent number: 5319914
Abstract: In a device for the knotless joining of threads and yarns using compressed air, a chamber is provided including central region of substantially U or V cross-section, possibly with a flat base, and two lateral regions of substantially circular cross-section. The slits of the three regions, through which the yarns to be joined are inserted, form a continuous common gap which is closable frontally by a cover. A nozzle opens into the base of the central region in a direction perpendicular to the frontal opening of the slit of said central region, and a nozzle opens into the base of each lateral region opposite the frontal opening of the relative slit in a direction substantially tangential to the circular cross-section, these latter two nozzles being in opposing positions and feedable with compressed air via a duct which is separate from the feed duct for the nozzle opening into the central region.

  • Patent number: 5289673
Abstract: The device involves the use of two nozzles (5 and 6) alternatively blow air jets against a yarn in the central portion of a channel (1), these nozzles being symetrically placed in relation to a plane containing the channel axis. The jets blowing frequency is of several hundreds of Hz. A deflector (3) in the bottom of channel (1) can deviate the beating thread sidewise and consequently impart thereto alternate twisting and untwisting motion in order to unravel the thread.

  • Patent number: 5152131
Abstract: A device for joining textile yarns by compressed air in which the joining head comprises a longitudinal chamber divided into two parts by a transverse central fissure, at least one air nozzle opening into each of said parts, that nozzle opening into one part creating an air swirl in one direction of rotation and that nozzle opening into the other part creating an oppositely directed air swirl, the air swirls being in the direction of the original twist of the yarns to be joined. In the transverse central fissure there is disposed a separator baffle provided with a yarn positioning region, the baffle physically separating the two parts of the chamber while leaving a central air vent free. To increase the air quantity discharged through the vent, a transverse fissure can also be provided in the cover which frontally closes the chamber during the joining operation.

  • Patent number: 4890451
Abstract: The yarn to be loosened is guided by slots (7;8); it is held on one side thereof and it is cut on the other side. Air is injected by a nozzle (13) for driving the cut end of the yarn into a channel (1), between the bottom (11) of this channel and the longitudinal edge of the adjacent flexible leaf (10) which is vibrated simultaneously at several hundreds of Hz. The air can escape sidewise through a longitudinal opening (4) of channel (1) and entrains the yarn from one side to the other side of the leaf (10) and imparts to this yarn alternatively inverted twists. A further action of the leaf (10) is to pulse the air in the channel and therefore to subject the yarn to intermittently applied pulls.

  • Patent number: 4852339
Abstract: A splicing device is proposed, for splicing threads or textile yarns with compressed air containing an added liquid, in which, in order to get rid of the need for a precise and careful metering of the liquid to be added to the compressed air, and in order to protect the mechanical parts of the device from undesired noxious effects due to their contact with the liquid entrained by the compressed air, the mixing chamber inside which the splicing of the threads or yarns takes place is positioned inside a tank which can be tightly sealed before and during the splicing operation, from which tank a discharge duct for the liquid-admixed compressed air starts.

  • Patent number: 4630433
Abstract: To the purpose of obtaining the joining of textile threads, by means of a splice accomplished with compressed gas, by a short, strong joint of nearly imperceptible appearance, a method is proposed, which includes the following steps: inserting the two threads to be joined through a longitudinal slit in a splicing chamber provided in a head having two parallel opposite side walls perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the chamber, in correspondence of which walls there are side outlets; substantially closing the side outlets of the chamber and at the same time locking the threads entering the chamber through its related side outlets, against the respective side walls of the head, but leaving free and unlocked the cut tails of the thread coming out of the outlets; and subjecting the thread lengths enclosed within the chamber to at least one burst of compressed gas blown into the chamber, the gas escaping through a port provided in the head transversely to the longitudinal axis of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4574573
Abstract: A device for jointing, by means of compressed air, textile yarns and for preliminarily preparing the ends of the yarns to be jointed is provided, in particular for being installed on textile machinery, such as spoolers. In order to achieve minimum overall dimensions of the device, and to the purpose of constructing it in a simple and cheap way, the device comprises a central body (10, 11, 12) bearing a head (26) in which a mixing chamber (27) is provided, two walls (15, 16) positioned opposed to each other and spaced apart from the two outside surfaces of the body perpendicular to the axis of the chamber (27), and two contoured plates (21, 22), with profiled slots (78, 79) slidingly assembled between the outside surfaces of the central body, and the relevant spaced apart wall. The plates (21, 22) are driven to perform linear movements and drive, by means of their slots, the synchronous movements of the moving gears of the device (FIG. 2).

  • Patent number: 4570427
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for splicing textile threads by means of compressed air in a mixing chamber, with a device for pretreating the ends of the threads which comprises nozzles controllably feedable with compressed air and arranged at the sides of the body in which the mixing chamber is defined. The jets of air caused to leave the nozzles interfere with the cut ends of the threads laterally leaving the mixing chamber and cause them to be subjected to flapping and to a free whipping for opening and separating the fibres and putting the latter parallel to each other. A whirling motion may be imparted to the jets of air to remove the original twist from the fibres.

  • Patent number: 4437299
Abstract: In an apparatus for joining textile threads with the aid of compressed air, there is provided a device for checking the tearing strength of the joint zone of the threads before their extraction from the apparatus. The device comprises at least one mobile member arranged to act on the loop formed by the joined threads with a predetermined traction force at an intermediate point between the points at which the threads are locked at the apparatus inlet. Control means are provided which are operated so that they travel through a predetermined outward and return stroke and act on said mobile member by way of a yieldable coupling which is set to yield when the predetermined traction force is exceeded.

  • Patent number: 4437298
Abstract: An apparatus for joining textile threads with the aid of compressed air, for mounting in an automatic winding machine, comprises, in front of and behind a mixing chamber, opposing walls with guides for positioning the threads laterally to the chamber and perpendicularly to its longitudinal axis. The front wall carries members for crossing-over the threads before their insertion into the chamber. In the vicinity of the positioning guides for the thread locking members, the opposing wall, at which the threads to be joined enter the apparatus, carries adjustable members for adjusting the length of the free ends of the threads after they have been cut, and an adjustable member for operating a valve which controls the entry of compressed air into the chamber. A control drum which can be coupled to a power take-off of the winding machine is provided with profiled cam grooves for controlling the movements of the mobile members of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4355498
Abstract: In a device for splicing textile yarns by fibre-intermingling with the aid of compressed air, a pneumatic timing unit is provided for adjusting the duration of the compressed air jet. The unit essentially comprises a timing reservoir composed by a number of spaces interconnected with each other and communicating with the fibre-blending chamber, a cutoff valve controlling the flow of air from the air source to the blending chamber. An auxiliary throttling means permits to adjust with the desired accuracy the flow of compressed air from the timing reservoir to the blending chamber, so that it becomes possible to select the proper time of jet duration according to the yarn types.
