In some aspects, the method comprises contacting the sample with a modified RBP associated with an immobilized surface, wherein an exterior surface of the liposome comprises a retinoid or a fat-soluble vitamin, and wherein the modified RBP binds the retinoid or the fat-soluble vitamin.

Abstract: We describe a method for conducting an assay in a multi-well assay plate using an apparatus comprising a light detection subsystem, a liquid handling subsystem, and a plate handling subsystem. This is particularly well suited for conducting automated sampling, sample preparation, and analysis in a multi-well plate assay format. For example, it may be used for automated analysis of particulates in air and/or liquid samples derived therefrom in environmental monitoring.

Also described are methods for evaluating the effectiveness of a drug or a drug candidate by administering tests of the present invention to samples from patients, animal models, and cell cultures treated with a drug or a drug candidate. Also disclosed are methods for determining the usefulness of analytes, e.g. cytokines, for acting as diagnostic and monitoring markers for inflammatory bowel disease in the various methods of the invention.

Abstract: Disclosed are methods for conducting assays of samples, such as whole blood, that may contain cells or other particulate matter. Also disclosed are systems, devices, equipment, kits and reagents for use in such methods. One advantage of certain disclosed methods and systems is the ability to rapidly measure the concentration of an analyte of interest in blood plasma from a whole blood sample without blood separation and hematocrit correction.
