Abstract: A burner for burning a hydrogen-containing fuel is equipped with a burner unit which comprises a fuel feed and a feed for a primary oxidant (oxygen) and which is accommodated in a feed for a secondary oxidant (air). A swirl device whose relative position with respect to the burner unit can be altered is provided in the feed for the secondary oxidant. The relative position of the burner unit and the swirl device may be controlled according to a composition of the fuel, in particular according to the water content thereof and the ratio of primary and secondary oxidant. The burner allows flexible adaptation of the burning to fuels of different composition, even during ongoing operation.

  • Publication number: 20230313456
Abstract: In a process for oxidation of white liquor, in particular of white liquor used in a process of production of paper or cellulose, the oxygen required for the oxidation is supplied to the reactor or the reactors in which the oxidation is carried out at least partially in the form of oxygen-containing nanobubbles. Due to the relatively long lifetime of the nanobubbles this very efficiently provides oxygen also for oxidation reactions in the white liquor proceeding at different rates.

  • Publication number: 20230271867
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for heating flowable molten glass in a feed channel which is enclosed by lateral walls and a cover and into which a plurality of fuel lances and oxidizing agent lances that are mutually spaced in the flow direction of the molten glass open above the molten glass, fuel or an oxidizing agent being supplied through said lances and being brought into reaction with each other in the feed channel. The invention is characterized in that in order to combust the fuel with the oxidizing agent, a flame is produced in front of the opening of each fuel lance, said flame being designed such that adjacent or opposite flames do not contact one another.

  • Publication number: 20230242433
Abstract: In a thermochemical method, a syngas comprising oxygen is combusted in a furnace, thereby producing a hot exhaust gas. The exhaust gas is subsequently discharged into the surroundings while the inner energy of the exhaust gas is at least partly used to carry out a reformation reaction. For this purpose, steam together with a hydrocarbon-containing fuel and an oxygen-containing gas are supplied to a reformer and converted into syngas in an endothermic reaction using inner energy of the exhaust gas. The heat of the exhaust gas is used in particular to evaporate water and supply same to the reformer in a superheated state. The syngas is then supplied to the furnace as fuel. The invention prevents undesired constituents of the furnace atmosphere, in particular sulfur compounds, from being supplied to the reformer.

  • Publication number: 20230203751
Abstract: In a process/an apparatus for producing bleached cellulose in which a lignin- and cellulose-containing suspension is subjected to at least one process step for oxygen-assisted bleaching in a reactor, such as alkaline oxygen delignification, oxygen-enhanced extraction or oxygen-enhanced peroxide bleaching, the oxygen required for the oxygen-assisted bleaching is supplied to the reactor at least partially in the form of oxygen-containing nanobubbles. The small size and high stability of the nanobubbles allow uniform distribution of the oxygen in the suspension and a comparatively long exposure time. The efficiency of the bleaching is thus substantially increased.
