Patent number: 4078604Abstract: In a heat exchanger wall construction, such as used in regeneratively cooled combustion chambers for liquid fueled rocket engines, the wall construction consists of an inner wall with cooling channels spaced apart by webs. The cooling channels are open on one surface of the inner wall. An outer wall contacts the webs of the inner wall and forms a closure over the openings from the cooling channels. The outer wall consists of an intermediate layer electro-deposited on the surface of the inner wall in which the cooling channels are formed so that it provides a closure surface for the channels. The surfaces of the channels within the inner wall are coated by electro-depositing a layer of gold on them. After forming the gold layer on the surfaces of the cooling channels, the outer surfaces of the webs are etched so that the gold layer extends outwardly from the outer surface of the webs. Next the intermediate layer is deposited and it can be either a single layer or multi-layered.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1975Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventors: Manfred Christl, Karl Butter, Helmut Dederra, Michael Kaufmann, Willibald Wittich, deceased, by Renate Wittich nee Padberg, legal guardian, Manfred Lechner

Patent number: 4078422Abstract: In finishing the construction of a rotary wing, particularly helicopter rotor blade, the blade is weighed to determine the position of its static moment. The measured value is compared with a predetermined value and, if necessary, the static moment is adjusted by applying a high specific gravity filler material to the surface of the blade. The filler material has a specific gravity in a range of 6 to 10 p/cm.sup.3 and can be formed of a mixture of tungsten powder and epoxy resin. The weighing operation is performed on a three scale apparatus with one scale supporting the end of the blade attached to the rotor and the other two scales supporting the opposite end of the blade.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventors: Klaus Brunsch, Rolf Dollinger

Patent number: 4079445Abstract: A device for the voltage regulation of a solar-type generator by the additive or subtractive connection of generator units to a common bus bar. A logic circuit controls the number of unregulated generator units being connected to the bus bar at any one time depending on the load. A single generator is permanently coupled to the bus bar which generator is regulated to provide improved overall regulation. This single, permanently connected generator is regulated by a series regulator having high feedback loop gain for substantially reducing the output impedance of the single regulated generator in comparison to the unregulated generators. An embodiment incorporating d.c.-a.c. choppers for supplying an a.c. load is also disclosed. In this embodiment, the choppers are directly controlled to effect coupling between a generator and the common bus bar.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1976Date of Patent: March 14, 1978Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventor: Heinrich Hufnagel

Patent number: 4035081Abstract: In a laser gyroscope it is desirable for precision operation to eliminate or effectively compensate temperature variations, as well as manufacturing tolerances. To this end the present laser gyroscope has two ring lasers physically arranged so close to each other that there is an optimal thermic contact between the two ring lasers. Temperature sensors are arranged in contact with the resonator circumference to control a piezoelectric resonator tuning device in response to temperature variations to compensate the same. The modulators of the lasers are periodically switched, for example, with the aid of Faraday cells to reverse the travel direction of the travelling waves to thereby compensate for manufacturing tolerances, and any remaining temperature variations.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1975Date of Patent: July 12, 1977Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventors: Gunther Sepp, Gunthard Born

Patent number: 4028000Abstract: Resilient drive means for a helicopter rotor blade. The rotor blade is pivotally supported on a stub shaft which is in turn supported on the rotor hub. First means are fixed to the rotor blade and second means fixed to the stub shaft with resilient and adjustable means positioned therebetween for controlling the angular relationship between the rotor blade and the stub shaft. In this embodiment, said first means comprise a shoulder which projects from the rotor blade and the second means comprise a rectangular hollow frame which is fixed to the stub shaft. The shoulder projects into the hollow frame. Threaded means acting through resilient means holds the first and second means in selected pivotal adjustment with respect to each other but the resilient component thereof permits sufficient slight lead lag movement therebetween as to effect damping of the lead lag mode of the rotorblade.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1975Date of Patent: June 7, 1977Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventors: Emil Weiland, Alois Schwarz, Hubert Frommlet

Patent number: 4025008Abstract: An air intake control for an air utilizing jet aircraft engine. The control is provided with fixed and movable air intake control ramps and the positioning of such movable ramps for air control purposes is determined by the static pressure above one thereof modified by the static pressure of the external air flow, the total pressure and the angle of attack of the aircraft. One control parameter is produced by a device responsive to the relationship between the static pressure above the one movable ramp and the total pressure of the external air flow. Particularly, this pressure relationship is calculated as a function of the operating cylinder feedback signal indicating the actual position of the center ramp, and is applied as a modifying value to a summing junction provided in the control circuit to produce a variable demand signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 11, 1976Date of Patent: May 24, 1977Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventor: Juergen Peikert

Patent number: 4025675Abstract: The disclosed reinforced laminate or composite board comprises external first and second continuous spaced sheets of fiber-reinforced synthetic resin, with the reinforcing fibers in each sheet oriented so as to provide reinforcement in two directions of stress. A supporting core is sandwiched between the first and second sheets. This supporting core is formed by a plurality of rib elements extending in directions different from the directions in which the reinforcing fibers of the first and second sheets are oriented. The rib elements are composed of superimposed roving bundles which are impregnated with synthetic resin. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the reinforcing fibers of the external sheets are arranged in two superimposed fiber layers, the fibers of one of the layers extending perpendicularly to the fibers of the other layer, thereby to provide reinforcement in two main directions of stress. The rib elements in this embodiment extend diagonally to the fibers of the external sheets.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 1974Date of Patent: May 24, 1977Assignee: Messerschmitt-Bolkow-Blohm GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Jonda
