Abstract: An applicator device for cosmetic uses comprises a tubular casing accommodating at least one stick of cosmetic material which projects from the casing. At each of the two axially mutually remote ends of the casing the internal space within the casing includes respective end portions which are each defined in respect of their axial dimension by a stick abutment means for fixing the position of a respective stick in the internal space end portion. One or both internal space end portions may accommodate a respective cosmetic stick, and the two end portions of the space within the tubular casing are of the same configuration to minimize the sorting expenditure involved when processing casings.

Abstract: A powder compact material in the form of a stick for cosmetic purposes is made up of powder-like base materials and if necessary additions of binders, lubricants and materials increasing adhesion compacted or bonded together as a body which keeps its form. For stopping the end or outer face of the stick-like body becoming clogged with moisture and sebum on use (so that clean powder compact material would have to be uncovered by cutting, this wasting the material) the compact stick contains as part of the present invention, a particle material, whose particles are harder than the particles of the base materials. The hardness of the particle material may preferably be equal to at least 4.0 on the Mohs' hardness scale. A particle size of 10 to 50 microns and an outer face of the particles which as far as possible is jagged or otherwise rough is responsible for useful effects.
Abstract: A pencil, in particular for cosmetic purposes, is made by casting a stick composition into a tubular body, which forms the shaft of the pencil and is preferably seamless, in such a way that a ready-to-use exposed stick point is formed during casting. The shaft may be of wood or plastics. In the case of a wooden shaft, a solid wooden rod of twice the shaft length may be bored out and otherwise worked and then separated along a central plane transverse to the axis of the rod to form a pair of shafts into which the stick composition can subsequently be cast.
