    Abstract: The present application provides a four-bar press that includes a plurality of linkages and at least one element for maintaining at least one of the plurality of linkages in the four bar press in compression during at least a portion of a press cycle. This beneficially reduces undesirable characteristics of the press, such as jerk, which enables use of smaller and lighter components.
