  • Patent number: 4487391
Abstract: A seat adjustment mechanism especially suited for motor vehicle seats is composed of at least one motor mechanism for adjustably moving a seat member through a drive connection having at least two mutually engaging force transmission parts. In order to avoid rattling of the adjustment mechanism when adjusting movement of the seat is to be effected in a direction where the adjusting movement is abetted by the weight of the seat member itself, a braking device is provided which counteracts the adjusting force of the motor mechanism applied in that direction.

  • Patent number: 4436250
Abstract: A drive unit for winding and unwinding a transport cable for a safety belt includes a motor driven take-up roll positioned within a housing and rotatable about a winding axis. The take-up roll has a radially outwardly facing surface encircling the winding axis. A casing encloses the take-up roll and has a radially inwardly facing surface spaced outwardly from the radially outwardly facing surface. When the cable is wound into the housing it winds onto the radially outwardly facing surface and when it is unwound it contacts the radially inwardly facing surface on the casing. The radially inwardly facing surface is frusto-conical in the direction of the winding axis with the larger diameter portion of the surface located closer to the opening from the housing through which the cable passes. Adjacent its larger diameter end, the radially inwardly facing surface has a circumferentially and radially extending step for preventing bending or kinking of the cable.

  • Patent number: 4354696
Abstract: A device for passive actuation of a safety belt includes an elongated force transmission member with an engaging member secured to the transmission member so that a certain amount of play is present in the elongated direction between the transmission member and the engaging member. A locking device is arranged to receive and secure the engaging member in the locked position. A release member is secured to the force transmission member so that it moves with the transmission member while the transmission member moves relative to the engaging member whereby the release member can contact and displace the locking device out of locking contact with the engaging member. With the engaging member released from the locked position when the certain amount of play is traversed by the force transmission member, the transmission member carries the engaging member along with it.

  • Patent number: 4235046
Abstract: An operating mechanism for the window in a motorcar door and the like includes guiding devices, including at least one deflecting element, which engage a wire, cable or other elongated tension member and guide the tension member on the door in a loop-shaped path when the tension member is driven in the path alternatively in two opposite, longitudinal directions. The motion of the tension member is transmitted to the window. The tension member stretches under the longitudinal stresses exerted thereon by the drive and the window and needs to be tensioned. According to the invention, a spring in a permanently stressed condition biases the deflecting element in a direction to lengthen the path of the tension member and for thereby compensating for slack in the engaged portion of the tension member when the tension member moves in one longitudinal direction, whereby the spring reaches a partly relaxed condition.

  • Patent number: 4211122
Abstract: The window in the door of an automotive vehicle is raised and lowered by means of an externally threaded, longitudinally moving cable. The drive arrangement for the cable includes a shell having first and second shell portions of which at least one is formed with an aperture. A pinion is rotatably secured between the shell portions and journaled in the aperture of apertures. A first group of fastening devices fastens the first shell portion to the second shell portion in a predetermined position, but may also fasten the shell portions to one another in each of a plurality of other positions angularly offset about the axis of pinion rotation from the predetermined position. The shell portions define therebetween respective passages through the shell in the several positions of the first shell portion, the passages being approximately tangential relative to the pinion and angularly offset from each other about the axis of the pinion.
