  • Patent number: 4695825
Abstract: An analog-digital conversion system is used with a microprocessor having an algorithm by which digital signal processing is carried out by the microprocessor. The A/D conversion system converts analog signals to offset binary form for processing by the microprocessor during repetitive cycles of operation. The conversion system includes a sample-and-hold (S/H) circuit for periodically sampling the value of the analog input and an A/D converter for converting sampled input into the digital format. Timing circuitry of the system generates a plurality of control signals during each such cycle of operation. Such timing circuitry controls the S/H circuit, the A/D converter and the microprocessor, as well as a D/A converter which reconverts the processed data into analog format. Logic circuitry selectively shortens the duration of at least one interval associated with the control signals to reduce overall processing duration.

  • Patent number: 4457014
Abstract: A signal transfer and processing system for use with a transmission line includes transmission line interface circuitry (30) and signal processing circuitry (100). The processing circuitry receives a signal to be processed, providing a processed signal for further use. An input bandpass filter (119, SW7) selectively limits bandwidth the input signal. A primary active frequency control (123) selectively controls the relative level of the signal provided from the primary bandpass filter means for selectively controlling the relative level of signal dynamics within different frequency bands for providing a frequency controlled signal, which is compressed by a compressor (127). A secondary active frequency control (135) selectively controls the relative level of the primarily compressed signal within different frequency bands to provide a frequency controlled primarily compressed signal which is further compressed by a secondary compressor (137).

  • Patent number: 4400583
Abstract: A complete audio processing system of solid state design for providing improvement of audible signals through dynamic compression including an active filter for transient suppression, a gain control, and a plurality of active frequency control stages for selectively controlling internal gain of signals in different frequency bands. Outputs of the frequency control stages are mixed and provided to a compressor stage having an operational amplifier of gain fixed by a DC feedback network. A gain cell provides variable negative feedback. A rectifier circuit measures the average value of the audio input to the compressor stage and controls the gain cell as a function of the average value to provide negative feedback which increases as a function of increase in the level of said input signal. An attenuator receives the output of the operational amplifier and provides an attenuated but dynamically compressed output so that the circuit provides no substantial overall gain but achieves high compression.
