  • Patent number: 8794588
Abstract: An actuator regulating valve apparatus comprising an actuator assembly operably installed within a valve body assembly, a bellows assembly operably installed adjacent to the actuator assembly, a biasing assembly operably installed on the valve body assembly substantially opposite the bellows assembly and configured to bias the apparatus closed, and a non-compressible liquid filling the apparatus about a bellows of the bellows assembly and the effective working surface of a piston of the actuator assembly and communicating therebetween through an orifice. Alternatively, an actuator rolling diaphragm is configured so as to partially cover the piston and to have a convolution loop supported by a U-shaped insert within a groove about the piston. Further alternatively, a balancing diaphragm sub-assembly of the biasing assembly acts on a pushrod of the actuator assembly to produce a force substantially equal and opposite to the pressure in an inlet side of the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6468469
Abstract: A method to determine a reuse period for a high-level disinfectant without the need to perform a chemical test on the disinfectant during the reuse period. An algorithm for achieving a reuse period during which retesting is not required and based upon desired user stringency is disclosed. A computer program may be used to perform the algorithm. During the reuse period, the disinfectant is maintained in excess of the minimal effective concentration and may be reused on the same device after initial use or on a plurality of used devices. The method provides advantages in terms of cost and time efficiency since it eliminates the need to separately test the composition, and decreases variables associated with repeated testing of the disinfectant.

  • Patent number: 4631959
Abstract: An anemometer for measuring the velocity of a fluid. The anemometer has a pivotally mounted shaft with a drag element mounted thereon for exposure to the fluid. Electromagnets are orthogonally located adjacent to a ferrite block on the shaft, and changes in position of the shaft are sensed by changes in voltage across the electromagnets. A controller senses these voltage changes and applies current to the electromagnets to produce electromagnetic force to restore the position of the shaft and balance the fluid force on the drag element. A micro-processor computes fluid speed and direction from the current applied to the electromagnets.
