Patents Assigned to Metromile, Inc.
  • Patent number: 10706644
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for determining or providing fuel information of a vehicle, such as predicting fuel intake and usage for the vehicle. A method for predicting a fueling event of a vehicle comprises using a mobile computing device carried in the vehicle to track the vehicle along a route. Multiple stop events may be detected when tracking the vehicle, and for each of the multiple stop events, each of duration and a geographic location may be determined. Next, a given stop event of the multiple stop events may be determined to be a fueling event based at least in part on a duration and geographic location of the given stop event.

  • Patent number: 10036639
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for determined a route or distance traveled of a vehicle. A computer-implemented method for determining a route of a vehicle during a trip comprises obtaining sensor information from a vehicle and obtaining position information from the vehicle using a global positioning system (GPS) component. Next, a route of the vehicle may be determined based at least in part on the position information and route information provided by a user onboard the vehicle during the trip. For portions of the trip in which the GPS component is not available or accurate, at least a portion of a corresponding route segment may be determined using the sensor information without the position information.

  • Patent number: 9846977
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for identifying or verifying trip information. A method for identifying or verifying a trip of a vehicle comprises detecting a presence of the vehicle with a mobile computing device of a user. The mobile computing device may be removable from the vehicle. Next, a trip start may be determined when the vehicle is detected by the mobile computing device as being present. Trip data may be recorded for a trip of the vehicle subsequent to the trip start, the trip data being based at least in part on sensor readings. A trip end that corresponds to an end of the trip of the vehicle may be detected and verified.

  • Patent number: 9812015
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and systems for providing parking information. A method for providing parking information comprises obtaining vehicle data from a vehicle, and/or a mobile computing device, and determining whether the vehicle is parked from the vehicle data. Next, using the one or more programmed processors, a parking location of the vehicle can be determined from the vehicle data. Information about the parking location can then be determined, and the information about the parking location can be outputted to the user.
