  • Patent number: 9727433
Abstract: In a diagnosis method of a control valve, position data representing a position of a control valve, and pressure data representing a pressure difference over a valve actuator, and optionally travel direction of the control valve, is measured during online operation of the control valve. The position data and the pressure difference data are processed to contain data around starting points of a plurality of individual travel movements of the control valve during normal online operation of the control valve. Finally, a valve signature graph of the control valve is determined based on the processed position and pressure difference data, collected at a plurality of points along the travel range of the control valve during online operation of the control valve.

  • Patent number: 9677687
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for reducing flow noise. In order to achieve a low flow noise, the device includes inlet apertures for receiving a fluid flow, chambers into which one or more inlet apertures open up, a cross-sectional area of a single chamber being larger than a combined flow cross-sectional area of the inlet apertures opening up thereto, and chamber-specific outlet apertures for forwarding the fluid flow from the chamber, a flow cross-sectional area of each outlet aperture being smaller than the cross-sectional area of the chamber, and the combined flow cross-sectional area of all outlet apertures of the single chamber being larger than the combined flow cross-sectional area of the inlet apertures opening up into said chamber.

  • Patent number: 9383420
Abstract: A Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) apparatus and method for measuring the water content of samples has a device to produce a main magnetic field; a sample receiving space within a main magnetic field; a device to excite a measurable RF magnetization to a sample placed into the sample receiving space at an operating frequency defined by the main magnetic field; a device to measure the RF signal produced by the excited sample; and a device to determine the water content in the sample based on the RF signal. The sample receiving space is capable of accommodating a sample having a volume of at least 0.5 dm3, and the device to produce a main magnetic field has a resistive electromagnet which is adapted to produce a main magnetic field corresponding to an operating frequency of 400-2000 kHz.

  • Patent number: 8930007
Abstract: A method and apparatus are set forth for modeling a coloring process in moving web manufacturing through dye response gain adaptation using measured sheet color spectrum; and dye response shape adaptation using measured color spectrum of the production sheet. The adaptation of colorant (dye) response gain uses the measured sheet color spectrum value at the value of maximum light absorbance of the dye. The adaptation of dye response spectrum uses the measured sheet color reflectance spectrum and sample sheet color spectrum with a corresponding response shape calculated using a formula to adapt the current sheet condition dye response shape using the dye response from the sample sheet on the assumption of a constant ratio of absorption change to dye concentration change.

  • Patent number: 8489221
Abstract: A method and apparatus are set forth for controlling and actuator in a moving web manufacturing process. The method includes: (1) measuring a plurality of actuator profiles and in response generating nominal response models thereof; (2) generating a multivariable profile prediction based on the nominal response models; (3) generating a multivariable control target based at least one of the actuator profile; and (4) adjusting control of the actuator by minimizing error between the multivariable control target and the multivariable profile prediction.
