  • Patent number: 4222722
Abstract: In a method of continuously producing rectangular foam blocks wherein a foamable polyurethane-reaction mixture is deposited on a bottom web moved by a conveyor belt, the surface of the rising foam is covered by a cover web which is withdrawn from the foam surface by a deviating device disposed near a location at which the foaming of the mixture is terminated, and the cover web is further advanced by means of a deviating roller, a method of synchronizing the movements of the cover web and the bottom web includes driving the deviating roller, through a transmission coupled to the conveyor belt, at a peripheral speed that is synchronized with the conveyor speed of the conveyor belt, and passing the cover web between the deviating roller and a roller adjustable in elevation and in pressure contact with the deviating roller.

  • Patent number: 4201321
Abstract: Applicator device for flowable reaction masses includes a crossbeam for distributing reaction mass and lines for feeding the reaction mass to the crossbeam, the crossbeam being formed with an inner hollow chamber communicating with the feeding lines for receiving reaction mass therefrom and an outer hollow space external to the inner hollow chamber, an inner wall separating the outer hollow space and the inner hollow chamber from one another, the inner wall being formed at uppermost locations thereof with overflow openings for passage into the outer hollow space of reaction mass fed by the feeding lines into the inner hollow chamber, and an outer wall at least partly surrounding the outer hollow space and formed with discharge openings for discharge of reaction mass received in the outer hollow space from the inner hollow chamber.

  • Patent number: 4183889
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the production of thermoplastic substrate with fibrous surfaces. The fibers of these surfaces are formed by drawing away from a heated surface a molten polymer component backed by an unmelted polymer residue layer or substate. Simultaneous with the drawing, the nascent fibers are stabilized by cooling. For this purpose, cooling media are introduced in the fiber-forming zone. The thermoplastic polymer compounds should be applied in a thickness of at least 50 microns, and preferably 150 microns (when only 1 polymer forms the molten component), on a heated drawing surface of a drum or a conveyor belt apparatus. This invention relates to the production of fibrous surfaces on polymer substrates. Typically the substrates are in the form of webs. The use of webs makes the cooling process more efficient.

  • Patent number: 4146350
Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming solid bodies by removing material from solid workpieces. A workpiece is situated between oppositely rotating tools which remove material from the workpiece, these tools having hollow interiors facing each other and each conforming to the configuration of one half of the finished body. The hollow interiors of the tools have teeth for removing material from the workpiece, and while the tools are rotated oppositely the distance therebetween is due so that from the workpiece a body is gradually formed, this body finally becoming almost completely enclosed within the hollow interiors of the tools, whereupon the latter have the distance therebetween increased so that the body formed thereby can be removed. These tools are adapted to form from a workpiece bodies of full circular or ring-shaped configuration, and the hollow interiors of the tools are provided with raised teeth similar to file teeth, for removing material from a workpiece.

  • Patent number: 4102619
Abstract: In an apparatus for the continuous production of rectangular foam slabs wherein a foamable reaction mixture is foamed on a forwardly moving floor web and lateral confining webs, and in which a cover web is applied during the foaming process to the surface of the rising foam, the improvement which comprises means for supplying said cover web from a supply to the surface under controllable tension, thereby exercising a controllable pressure on the surface of the rising foam, removing the cover web from the foam surface beyond the point at which the rising mixture has substantially reached its maximum height and passing the web rearwardly and then forwardly to serve as the floor web for receiving further foamable mixture.
