Abstract: A vehicle suspension includes and axle. An upper control arm bracket is fixedly positioned relative to the axle and defines a first axis. An upper control arm is rotatably coupled to the upper control arm bracket about the first axis. A lower control arm bracket is fixedly positioned relative to the axle and defines a second axis. A lower control arm is rotatably coupled to the lower control arm bracket about the second axis. An upper control arm relocation bracket is configured to be mounted to the axle and includes a clevis defining a third axis and configured to rotatably couple the upper control arm about the third axis. The relocation bracket includes a first aperture coaxial with the first axis when the relocation bracket is mounted to the axle and a second aperture coaxial with the second axis when the relocation bracket is mounted to the axle.
Abstract: A studded ball joint has a housing defining an interior cavity. A slot is formed at a first end of the housing and defines first and second guide surfaces. The interior cavity includes a concave surface. The studded ball joint further includes an annular sleeve slidingly engaged with the slot. A ball stud includes a bearing portion disposed within the cavity and sized to be at least partially received by the concave surface. The ball stud further includes an elongate stud portion extending from the bearing portion through the annular sleeve to define a first axis.
Abstract: Generally described, dampers having shimmed pistons are configured for use with vehicle suspensions. The dampers generally include a shaft having a piston with compression and rebound valves extending therethrough. The piston interfaces a shim assembly at the valve outlets such that damping fluid flow is controlled through a set of valves in one direction, and the damping fluid flow is limited through the same set of valves in the opposite direction. In this regard, the shim assembly is configured to provide bleed relief of the hydraulic damping fluid at lower shaft speeds and deflect away from the piston higher shaft speeds. The shim assembly generally includes a ring shim that interfaces a shim stack to provide a configurable preload for the deflectable shims and a flow path for the hydraulic damping fluid during bleed relief.
Abstract: Generally described, aspects of the disclosed subject matter are directed to electronically controlled dampers having shimmed pistons. In accordance with aspects of the present disclosure, the dampers generally include a shaft having a piston with compression and rebound valves extending therethrough. For further damper tuning and adjustment, a fluid bypass assembly permits damping fluid to bypass the piston during operation. The fluid bypass assembly may include a metering pin for manual adjustment of the fluid bypass, and a control valve for electronic adjustment of the fluid bypass. In this regard, the control valve may be controlled automatically, manually, or a combination thereof.
Abstract: A rotatable bushing for use in automotive suspension, steering, and other suitable joints is provided. The rotatable bushing includes a housing, an elastomeric portion engaging the outer surface of the housing, and a sleeve positioned within the housing. The sleeve is configured to rotate with respect to the housing and generally includes a central bore for receiving a rod or fastener therethrough. The elastomeric portion is configured to deform such that the sleeve is moveable in at least one of an axial direction and a radial direction with respect to an outer surface of the elastomeric portion.
