  • Patent number: 6397536
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for improving the connection between a building panel and a foundation. The improved connection is made possible by a unique form assembly that includes a trough assembly and a novel means for adequately supporting the trough assembly while the concrete is poured. The trough assembly creates a trough, which is an elongated hollow notch at the top of the foundation that resembles the shape of the trough assembly. Thus, the trough assembly is designed such that its width is approximately equal to the width of the building panel. The trough assembly also includes an angle iron affixed to the top of its sides. The trough assembly provides the building panel an elongated hollow groove having angle irons on each side. The prefabricated panel is therefor affixed to the angle irons. Placing the prefabricated panel in the foundation in such a manner and affixing it to the angle irons provides the panel with improved lateral and horizontal support.

  • Patent number: 6339295
Abstract: To provide a lighting device which is enabled to light a lamp of an incandescent bulb or the like in high luminance by a battery to be amounted on a vehicle. A lighting source lighting device 10 includes: an inverter 11 for converting a direct current from a vehicle-mounted battery 15 into an alternating current; and current adding means 13 for adding the direct current from the vehicle-mounted battery 15 and alternating current generated by the inverter 11, to supply a light source 14, such as a head lamp, with the added electric current. In this construction, the light source 14 is driven with the electric current containing the direct current and alternating current superimposed thereon so that the light source luminance microscopically changes with the period of the alternating current.

  • Patent number: 5868609
Abstract: A chemical-mechanical polishing apparatus includes a wafer carrier with a very low center of gravity which allows pressure to be applied evenly on a wafer being polished. The wafer carrier includes top, center, and bottom mating subassemblies with only the center and bottom subassembly or wafer holder actually rotating. The bottom of the central subassembly and the top of the bottom subassemblies are shaped as negative and positive, mating truncated pyramids with a downward extension at the center axis of the central subassembly which terminates in a ball in a recess in the top of the lower subassembly. The ball is positioned as low as possible to provide a very low center of gravity to ensure even pressure distribution over a wafer being polished. The truncated pyramidal shapes are to provide a geometry which exhibits a rigid structure with incrementally decreasing mass with distance from the central axis.

  • Patent number: 5843269
Abstract: Chemical-mechanical polishing apparatus includes three subassemblies, a top subassembly which is non-rotating but which has a lower section which forms a shell about a center and a lower subassembly both of which rotate within the shell. The system also includes a slurry dispensing system which is embedded in the shell and which is operative to supply slurry just in front of the advancing edge of a wafer being polished by the system. The slurry dispensing system includes a tube with holes arranged 180 degrees about the shell of the non-rotating subassembly which is also operative to retain the wafer in contact with the (rotating) pad covered platen with which it is in contact.

  • Patent number: 5830043
Abstract: Chemical-mechanical polishing apparatus includes a pad reconditioning mechanism which comprises nested conical tubes which overly the pad. The outer tube has an array of holes in it much like the head of an electric razor and is rotated about its axis by being in contact with the rotating pad. The inner cone is stationary and has a longitudinal, downward-facing slot. An air stream from the narrow end of the inner cone towards the wide end carries particle-laden slurry to the wide end for removal or recycling. The nested cones are arranged like a detachable bridge with the narrow end secured to a non-rotating center core and the wide end secured to the top of the table in which the (now annular) platen rotates.

  • Patent number: 5479019
Abstract: A measuring apparatus based on the NDIR process. Pulsed infrared light traverses in two parallel optical beams (3, 4) initially a cell (6) filled with .sup.13 CO.sub.2 and a cell (7) filled with .sup.12 CO.sub.2 and then, in parallel, two cells (8, 9) which are filled with the gas sample to be analyzed. Cells (8, 9) together with a capacitor microphone (15) serving as the pressure converting means form an optopneumatic receiver (17). By regulating the pressure in cell (6) the minimum of the pressure conversion signal is investigated and related to a correspondingly obtained reference value. The simply constructed apparatus permits a .sup.13 CO.sub.2 breathing test to be performed inexpensively.

  • Patent number: RE37497
Abstract: Apparatus and method for crimping the side walls of a sheet metal building panel independently of a main crimper which crimps the belly of the panel. The depth and the position along the panel of the side crimp is adjusted independently of the main crimpers in relation to the radius the panel is being curved and the length of panel that has passed through the apparatus. The adjustment is controlled by a microprocessor. The microprocessor controls a hydraulic motor which drives a machine screw which activates a scissors-jack type linkage. Blocks holding the rotatably mounted crimping rollers are mounted on slides and attached to the linkage. As the linkage moves, the depth of the crimping rollers is adjusted. The rotation of the crimping rollers is hydraulically driven through a gear-sprocket rotary motion drive train.
